Smart Crafter
Smarter crafting. Less manual work.
Smart Crafter adds a programmable crafting block that automates recipes from Minecraft’s crafting table.
Choose an output as a template, feed the required ingredients into the block, and let it craft with redstone pulses or continuously. A searchable recipe catalog, recipe-aware ingredient filtering, and careful output handling make it easy to add automated crafting to your builds.

🔨 Crafting the Smart Crafter
Craft the block in a regular crafting table with Redstone Dust, Diamonds, and a Crafting Table.
| Redstone Dust | Diamond | Redstone Dust |
|---|---|---|
| Diamond | Crafting Table | Diamond |
| Redstone Dust | Diamond | Redstone Dust |
The recipe unlocks in the crafting-table recipe book after you obtain the required ingredients.
🧩 Choosing a Recipe
Right-click the Smart Crafter to open its interface. Browse the recipe catalog or search by a localized item name or item ID, such as crafting_table or minecraft:crafting_table.
Select a result to set it as the template. The template is only a symbol: it is not consumed and cannot be taken out as a real item. You can also set it using an item you already have; the item remains in your hand.
The nine ingredient slots accept items in any arrangement. Smart Crafter matches the available ingredients to the selected recipe. Its filter considers open recipe slots and ingredient alternatives such as items provided through recipe tags. Items that do not help complete the selected recipe are rejected, so compatible hoppers can pass them along.
🔴 Redstone and Automatic Crafting
Smart Crafter supports two operating modes:
Redstone Mode
A new redstone signal starts one crafting batch after four game ticks. Each pulse crafts one recipe batch, including recipes that produce multiple items.
Automatic Mode
Enable the Automatic button to craft without redstone. The Crafter completes at most one recipe batch per game tick, up to 20 batches per second at the normal 20 game ticks per second.
The selected mode is saved with the block. New Smart Crafters start with automatic mode turned off.
📤 Output and Full Hoppers
When a hopper is placed directly underneath the Smart Crafter, crafted results and recipe remainders—such as empty buckets—are sent into it.
Before using ingredients, Smart Crafter checks whether the complete output fits. If the hopper is full, the craft pauses and keeps its ingredients. It resumes automatically when space becomes available, without requiring another redstone pulse.
Only the hopper directly below controls this pause. Full hoppers above or beside the Crafter do not stop it.
Without a hopper underneath, output follows normal Minecraft behavior: it can enter an inventory in front of the block or drop into the world. Smart Hopper blocks are recognized as hoppers, and their filters can affect which output items they accept.
📚 Recipe Compatibility
The searchable catalog includes loaded crafting-table recipes from Minecraft, mods, and datapacks when they have a defined result and automatically placeable ingredients.
Special recipes that do not provide a fixed ingredient and result layout—such as some repair or copying recipes—are not supported. Smelting, brewing, and stonecutting recipes are not crafting-table recipes and are not included.
When multiple recipes can produce the selected result, Smart Crafter uses the first matching recipe with available ingredients. It does not craft intermediate ingredients automatically.
