🌍 Chunk Loader
Keep your farms running. See your world. Choose exactly what stays loaded.
Your storage system shouldn’t stop just because you leave your base.
Chunk Loader adds six craftable loader blocks, an interactive world map and a handheld controller to Minecraft. Keep your hopper lines, processing systems and iron farms running while you explore—or while everyone is offline and the server stays running.
From a single chunk to a 25 × 25 chunk area, choose the tier that fits your build and select exactly which chunks you need.
💎 Six Tiers to Grow With Your World
Start small and upgrade as your projects expand.
| Chunk Loader | Selection Area | Maximum Chunks |
|---|---|---|
| Iron | 1 × 1 | 1 |
| Gold | 3 × 3 | 9 |
| Diamond | 5 × 5 | 25 |
| Emerald | 9 × 9 | 81 |
| Netherite | 15 × 15 | 225 |
| Nether Star | 25 × 25 | 625 |
Each selection area is centered on the chunk containing the loader.
No fuel required. Once configured and enabled, your loader keeps requesting its selected chunks until you switch it off or remove it.
🗺️ Select Chunks on a World Map
See your terrain and buildings directly beneath the selection grid.
The map uses Minecraft’s block map colors to show the surface from above. Instead of guessing where your farm ends, use the terrain to choose the chunks around it.
-
Left-click to select or deselect a chunk.
-
Hold and drag the left mouse button to edit several chunks.
-
Scroll to zoom.
-
Hold and drag the right mouse button to move the map.
-
Use Center to fit the full selection area back into view.
Choose between transparent selection highlights and outlines only, keeping the terrain visible underneath.
The map always shows the surface. In the Nether, this includes the bedrock roof.
🎯 Load Exactly What You Need
You don’t have to load an entire square.
Keep a narrow hopper route active, cover your farm’s footprint, or select separate areas within the loader’s range. Use the selection buttons to select the whole area or clear the surrounding chunks.
The loader’s own chunk always stays selected.
💾 Saved Maps, Faster Reopening
Previously received map images stay cached on your client during the current server connection. Close the menu and reopen it to see the existing map immediately while updates arrive in the background.
The server also saves captured map tiles with the world, so they can survive normal server restarts.
For new areas, the map displays a coarse preview first and then adds full detail, starting near the loader.
Map previews do not force additional chunks to load. Unknown, unloaded areas appear as a gray checkerboard until they can be sampled. Cached terrain may show an older image until refreshed.
🎮 Manage Your Loaders From Anywhere
Forgot where you placed a loader? Moved your base?
The Chunk Loader Controller brings your placed loaders together in one menu.
-
Find loaders by name.
-
Check their owner, coordinates and dimension.
-
Rename your loaders.
-
Change their chunk selections.
-
Enable or disable them remotely.
Disabled loaders remain in the list, ready to be switched back on.
Everyone can view the list. Players manage their own loaders; server administrators can manage all loaders.
🔗 Switch Groups Together
Assign several of your loaders the same group name to switch them on or off together.
Control an entire industrial district, a storage network or a collection of farms without opening every loader individually.
Each loader keeps its own chunk selection. Groups are organized per owner.
👁️ Clear Boundaries and Overlap Indicators
The map makes your selection easy to understand:
-
Green: selected chunks.
-
Orange: chunks covered by another active loader.
-
Cyan marker: the Chunk Loader.
-
White cross: your position when you are in the same dimension.
Enable the personal in-world preview to see nearby selected chunk boundaries as colored particle outlines.
Shared chunks remain requested as long as at least one active loader still needs them.
📊 Know What Is Actually Running
View your active chunk selection, other players’ selections and the server-wide total. Overlapping chunks count only once within each total.
Separate live counters show:
-
Loaded chunks
-
Block simulation
-
Entity simulation
Red markers identify selected chunks that are not yet fully ready.
A saved map image shows the terrain—it does not mean the chunk is currently being simulated. Use the live counters to check its current state.
⚙️ Built for Automation
Keep hopper transport, processing blocks and correctly configured Java iron farms working without a nearby player.
For an iron farm, include the entire setup in your selection: villagers, zombies where needed, spawning platforms, transport routes and collection systems.
Active loaders also prevent Minecraft’s dedicated-server empty pause while they are enabled. Your names, groups, selections and enabled states are saved with the world and restored after a restart.
Player-dependent mechanics still follow their own rules. This mod does not create fake players or enable natural mob spawning without players. Random-tick crop growth without players is not a supported feature.
🔨 Craft and Upgrade
Every loader uses four units of its tier material, four redstone dust and one center ingredient.
| Result | Tier Material ×4 | Center Ingredient |
|---|---|---|
| Iron Chunk Loader | Iron Ingot | Ender Pearl |
| Gold Chunk Loader | Gold Ingot | Iron Chunk Loader |
| Diamond Chunk Loader | Diamond | Gold Chunk Loader |
| Emerald Chunk Loader | Emerald | Diamond Chunk Loader |
| Netherite Chunk Loader | Netherite Ingot | Emerald Chunk Loader |
| Nether Star Chunk Loader | Nether Star | Netherite Chunk Loader |
Place the tier materials in the four corners, redstone in the four edge slots and the center ingredient in the middle.
The Chunk Loader Controller is crafted with five iron ingots, one redstone dust and one compass:
| Iron Ingot | Redstone Dust | Iron Ingot |
|---|---|---|
| Iron Ingot | Compass | Iron Ingot |
| Empty | Iron Ingot | Empty |
All seven recipes use Minecraft’s standard crafting system and include recipe-book unlocks.
🚀 Getting Started
-
Craft and place a Chunk Loader.
-
Right-click it to open the management menu.
-
Select the chunks you want to keep active.
-
Set its status to ON.
-
Click Apply.
New loaders start switched off, with only their own chunk selected.
Craft a controller whenever you want to manage your loaders remotely. Remember to apply changes before leaving the editor.
🌐 English and German
The interface, controls, map hints and standard validation messages support English and German, following your Minecraft language setting automatically.
Your custom loader and group names stay exactly as you entered them.
📦 Requirements and Installation
-
Minecraft Java 26.3
-
Fabric Loader 0.20.1 or newer
-
Fabric API for 26.3
-
Java 25 or newer
Install the mod and Fabric API on both the server and every client.
When updating, replace the previous Chunk Loader JAR instead of keeping both versions installed.
No additional map mod is required. This build is for Fabric; Forge and NeoForge are not supported.
💡 Notes for Server Owners
The server itself must remain running. Chunk Loader cannot prevent a hosting provider from shutting down the server.
A full Nether Star selection covers 625 chunks. Farms, machines and entities within those chunks can increase server workload, so select the areas your builds actually need.
Turning a loader off removes its loading request. Players, other loaders or other Minecraft mechanisms may still keep those chunks active.
Chunk totals represent explicitly selected chunks. Minecraft may load additional surrounding chunks internally.
Management permissions protect edits through the menu. They do not prevent other players from physically breaking a loader, and there is currently no configurable per-player chunk quota.
