Keep Trim

Repairing two trimmed armour pieces in the crafting grid keeps the armour trim of the left-most (then top-most) piece instead of stripping it.

Keep Trim

Built for Dungeon Train — works anywhere. Keep Trim was made so Dungeon Train players don't lose their hard-won armour trims when patching gear back together on the train. It has no dependency on Dungeon Train Drop it into any modpack or vanilla-plus world.

What it does

Ever combined two damaged trimmed chestplates in a crafting grid and watched the trim vanish? Vanilla rebuilds the repaired item from scratch and only keeps durability and curses.

Keep Trim keeps the trim. The repaired piece comes out wearing the trim of the left-most input — and if both pieces sit in the same column, the top-most one. So you always know which trim you're getting: put the one you want to keep on the left.

  • Works in the 2x2 inventory grid, the crafting table, and modded crafting grids
  • Untrimmed piece on the left? The result is untrimmed. The left piece always decides
  • Untrimmed repairs are untouched - pure vanilla
  • The anvil already keeps the left item's trim in vanilla, so it's left alone

Setup

Nothing to configure. Install on the server (or your singleplayer game) and it just works, vanilla clients see the trimmed result as normal.
