Just Enough Loading

Just Enough Loading is a client-side performance mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge that reduces JEI startup time and recipe-index size.

JEI normally generates and simulates a large number of synthetic Anvil and Grindstone recipe examples during startup. Just Enough Loading limits these combinations before the expensive result calculations are performed.

Default Limits

• Up to 3 representative items per enchantment.

• Up to 16 generic repair examples for each optimized category.

Optional Iron's Spells Support

When Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks is installed, Just Enough Loading also compacts its Arcane Anvil imbuing combinations while preserving every supported item and spell level.

Iron's Spells is completely optional. Standard JEI optimizations continue to work without it.

Tested With 570 Mods

Just Enough Loading was tested in a large modpack containing approximately 570 mods.

In this test environment, JEI's recipe-initialization phase took around 8 minutes without Just Enough Loading and approximately 2 minutes with Just Enough Loading installed.

That represents:

• Approximately 75% less loading time

• Up to 4× faster JEI recipe initialization

• Fewer redundant Anvil, Grindstone, and Arcane Anvil recipe examples

These results were measured in this specific modpack. Actual performance improvements may vary depending on the installed mods, items, enchantments, recipes, hardware, and configuration.

Requirements

• Minecraft 1.20.1

• Forge 47.4.0 or newer within the 47.x line

• JEI 15.49.0.188 or newer

• Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks 1.20.1-3.16.2 or newer — optional

Independent JEI Add-on

Just Enough Loading is an independently developed client-side performance add-on for Just Enough Items (JEI).

It is not a fork, reupload, or modified distribution of JEI. JEI remains a required dependency and is not included in this project.

Just Enough Loading provides its own optimization code. It reduces redundant synthetic Anvil and Grindstone examples before JEI performs their expensive result simulations. Optional support for Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks also compacts Arcane Anvil examples while preserving item and spell-level coverage.
