What's new

2026-09-20 — Jeweler and Jeweler's Bench

  • Added the two-input Jeweler's Bench, server-owned shape selection, exact costs, inset preservation and temporary per-player inventory.
  • Moved all shipped jewelry creation recipes to jewelcraft:jewelcrafting, retaining recipe IDs and a bench-only material_setting serializer alias. Amulets no longer require string.
  • Added the Jeweler profession, five trade levels, server economy settings, profession appearance/sounds and hero gifts.
  • Added optional JEI category, material-aware outputs and input transfer; expanded resource and transaction regression checks.

Frame and gem bonuses

  • Every metal now has four shape-specific frame bonuses; every inset family supplies a separate innate gem bonus. Thirteen bonus types include health, armor, combat/movement speed, reach, swimming, luck, stability and piglin neutrality.
  • Added strongest-per-form/channel/stat aggregation and bounded totals; foreign attributes and enchantment rules remain independent.
  • Fixed raw inset translation keys using catalog-name fallbacks, preserving valid source variant names, custom names and recovery NBT.
  • Gold/rose-gold amulets carry neutrality; other gold shapes now have their own stat bonus.

Unified modular jewelry

  • Added bracelets and circlets with distinct shared-layer sprites, Curios slots, crafting, enchanting, loot effects and gem recovery.
  • Unified all four forms: 34 metals × 58 insets × 4 forms = 7,888 optional setting recipes; 144 vanilla combinations remain when compatibility is disabled.
  • Removed all 54 fixed wearable IDs, old textures/models/recipes/translations and conversion handling. Saved fixed pieces are intentionally lost; no migration path remains.
  • Bracelets share ring enchantment limits; circlets share amulet limits. Metal bonuses aggregate separately across four physical forms.

Optional material compatibility (earlier implementation)

  • Added default-on, per-provider Ultima material compatibility: 34 metal choices, 58 inset choices and 3,890 conditional ring/amulet recipes, with two stable item registrations.
  • Added independent metal/gem colors, material names, bounded enchantability, strongest-per-form metal bonuses and lossless inset recovery using shears (the setting and its enchantments are consumed).
  • Preserved source NBT for Apotheosis and Tinkers' Jewelry gem variants without copying their separate trait systems.

Forge compatibility update

  • Updated the build and packaged Forge requirement to 47.4.23, the latest Forge release for Minecraft 1.20.1 checked on 20 September 2026. Minecraft, Java, Curios and the mod version remain unchanged.

Fixes

  • Restored the Gradle wrapper, pinned Java 17 / Forge 1.20.1 dependencies, mandatory Curios metadata, production remapping and server test runs.
  • Unified functional equipment across Curios slots. One server-owned controller maintains built-in attributes; foreign Curios NBT attributes remain untouched.
  • Magnetic preserves gravity, pickup delay, ownership, thrower restrictions and item lifecycle; bounded velocity attraction observes line of sight and inventory capacity.
  • Crop growth no longer mutates blocks during the pre-event. Existing denials remain authoritative.
  • Fluorite converts actual effect applications instead of granting buffs during applicability queries.
  • Titanite uses a real inventory stack, a dedicated veto, vanilla recovery effects and ordinary stat/advancement notifications. Held totems have priority and their rejection cannot be bypassed.
  • Aquamarine respects maximum/current air; Empowered uses server RNG, charged attacks and prior critical-event decisions.
  • Regenerative descriptions accurately exclude players.
  • Server configuration is synchronized, bounded and refreshed by effect evaluation.
  • Added recipe unlocks, precise Forge ingredients, native numerical tooltips and accurate translated descriptions.

Deliberate balance changes

  • Duplicate metal bonuses and same-form enchantments no longer stack. One ring plus one amulet can still contribute two material, reach and Luck branches.
  • New-world Magnetic radius is 8 blocks; valid legacy radius 16 is imported. It runs every 5 ticks and selects up to 32 drops per wearer under a shared server budget.
  • Regenerative uses a 7-block sphere, line of sight, a 20-tick cadence and at most 16 targets per wearer.
  • Sodalite improves natural crop/stem growth. Cactus/sugar cane acceleration and bonemeal pulses are absent in this stabilization release. Trampling protection remains.
  • Random criticals require 90% charge by default. Existing external DENY/ALLOW decisions are preserved.
  • Relics use explicit odds: 25% per structure source, 1/14 per fishing-treasure generation and one guaranteed bonus-chest relic. These are documented new odds, not a claim of reproducing the old negative-roll distribution.

Compatibility and deferred proposals

The jewelcraft namespace and enchantment IDs remain. Wearables now use only four modular IDs, alongside the jewelry box. Deflect, Zombie and Kyanite remain dormant enchantments. Modular stacks preserve names and foreign NBT.

The plan's bench, functional jewelry box, JEI bench adapter, facets, new relic powers and optional social integrations are deferred until their later phase gates. The jewelry box remains an internal creative-tab icon. See the test record for the exact validation performed and remaining release limitations.
