This mod is a sibling mod to my Jacob's Video Tapes mod. With both installed, they share one tape, so the sound and picture glitch together!
Overview
This mod aims to capture the analog sound of the pre-00s era, and makes every sound in the game sound like it's playing off a worn-out, probably cursed cassette someone found in an attic. It starts out calm, just a little hiss and wobble… and slowly gets worse the longer you listen.
Features:
- Client-Side Only
- Worn-Out Tape: Tape hiss, hum and crackle, wobbly pitch, and sounds that slowly drift out of tune while they play.
- Glitches: Stutters, tape hiccups, tracking errors, and crunchy, corrupted (sometimes reversed) copies of sounds.
- Phantom Sounds: Is… there… someone there? Yes.
- Escalation: It gets worse at night, in the dark, underground, at low health and the longer you play, with the occasional sudden spike.
- Tape Stop: The tape winds down when you pause or die, and spins back up after.
- Every Sound: Music, records, weather, blocks, mobs, players, ambience, voice, and even other mods' sounds - each one can be toggled or turned up/down.
- Config File: Customize the overall strength, how fast things escalate, each effect and glitch, the phantom sounds, and which sounds get touched at all.
Spoiler / Hints
The footsteps aren't the only thing down in the caves with you. If you hear someone mining nearby while you're playing alone... you're probably still alone. Probably.
Warning:
This mod affects every sound in the game on purpose, including music and the menus. If you're playing with headphones on, the corrupted sounds and static bursts can get crunchy - turn things down (or off) in the config to your personal taste.
