Color Magic — make the battlefield your canvas. Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge
A new school of paint magic for Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks.
A brush can be more dangerous than a sword.
Color Magic turns combat into a living composition: coat enemies in paint, layer colours into powerful reactions, and choose when to turn your masterpiece into a black-paint explosion. Beyond the spellbook, discover artists' workshops, dress for the part, and uncover a creation that should never have left its sketchbook.
10 spells · Reactive colour mixing · Dyeable artist gear · Two world structures · A three-phase boss

Paint is more than a colour
Every stroke leaves its mark. Repeated hits build up to three stacks of each colour, making your next move matter.
- Crimson wears enemies down with damage over time.
- Verdant slows them, giving you room to control the fight.
- Azure makes them more vulnerable to Color Magic damage.
Combine two colours to change your approach:
- Red + green → Yellow: recover health from the damage you deal to your painted target.
- Red + blue → Magenta: strip away part of the target's armour.
- Green + blue → Cyan: briefly root the target in place, then leave it slowed.
Add the third colour and the mixture turns Black. A short fuse burns before the stored paint detonates, leaving its victims blinded and nauseated. Black paint applied directly builds through three stages before igniting.
Later, White paint offers another way to play: all three base effects at once, with healing blocked on hostile targets. But one more splash of paint turns that white canvas black.

Ten spells. Your own technique.
Start with Crimson Stroke, Verdant Stroke and Azure Stroke, then build a toolkit around the colours you choose:
- Broad Stroke — send out a sweeping arc that bursts into an area splash and lays down two stacks of paint.
- Paint Spray — channel a cone of paint to keep enemies under pressure.
- Color Carapace — wear your paint as protection: crimson returns damage, verdant reduces damage and regenerates health, azure resists magic and intercepts projectiles.
- Flourish — dash through the fight. Red adds damage, green adds distance, blue shortens the cooldown.
Many of these spells use the colour of your last single-colour stroke. Pick your colour, then pick your technique.
Masterpiece Portrait
Create a stationary painted double of a mob or player and tether the original to it. Greater spell power tightens the leash. Reinforce the portrait with paint to give it defensive properties — or turn it black to make the original explode, not the portrait. Bosses cannot be portrayed.
Desaturation
Pull every paint out of a target and leave it grey. An unpainted enemy yields mana; a painted one yields a little less mana and colour-based buffs: melee damage from red, movement and attack speed from green, spell power for every school from blue. New paint, or time, restores the target's colour.
Black Droplets
Call down a rain of black paint over an area. Enemies accumulate black stacks while patches of ground become paint traps: a fully coated block ignites the next enemy who steps on it. The storm spares the caster and their allies, and a roof can shelter its targets.
Masterpiece Portrait and Black Droplets are single-level Legendary spells. The other eight spells progress through five levels, from Common to Legendary.

Dress for your next masterpiece
- Great Brush — a staff that strengthens Color Magic and expands its area.
- Rainbow Palette — a 12-slot spellbook with extra mana and a chance to cast mixed colours.
- Artist's Garb — a full set of school armour. Dye the clothing and your brush to create a matching look without losing their colourful details.
- Wonder Paint, Color Runes and Color Upgrade Orbs — use Iron's Scroll Forge and Arcane Anvil to develop your paint-magic build.

Make the world your canvas
Your spells leave more than a mark on enemies. Paint splatters across nearby blocks, wraps around their edges, and coats grass and flowers in the solid parts of each splash. The colour dries away without replacing the blocks themselves.
Sheep's wool and leather armour can take on the colour of the mixture, while leather offers protection against Color Magic.

Follow the paint into the world
The Workshop is a little pocket of colour in the overworld. Meet the Master Artist and their apprentices, trade for dyes, paint and scrolls, and discover a studio full of the tools of their craft. They are friendly — until someone picks a fight with one of them.
The Abandoned Workshop tells a different story. A ruined studio hides a basement, the hostile Mad Artist, and secrets worth searching for.
Defeat the Mad Artist to claim the Dried Paint Belt. It turns your paint black and increases its direct damage, but Color Magic spells cost three times as much mana. With the belt, Color Carapace becomes a bomb that can hurt its own wearer. This is power with a price, not a free upgrade.

A masterpiece that fights back
Recover the Madman's Sketchbook and follow its ritual to awaken the Colorful Amalgam: a towering golem of paint with three lives of 500 health.
It begins in colour, rises again in black, and returns one last time in white. Each phase brings faster attacks and stronger defences. Expect huge paint projectiles, ground slams, close-range blows, and spells from the very school you are learning.
Its chance to completely negate an incoming spell or projectile is 10% → 25% → 50% across the three phases — a cancelled hit, not merely reduced damage.
Survive the final canvas and claim Amalgam's White, the ingredient that upgrades your Rainbow Palette into Amalgam's Palette: more mana, more power, and a chance to cast white paint.

Color Magic is an addon, not a standalone magic system. This release targets Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks 1.21.1-3.16.3 and needs its dependencies:
Install Color Magic and the required mods on both the server and every client, using matching Color Magic versions. Remove older copies before updating.
Adding it to an existing world? Explore newly generated chunks to find the workshops.
Does the paint permanently change blocks? No. Surface paint dries away and does not replace blocks. Wool stays dyed until recoloured; dyed leather can be washed in a cauldron.
Want to tune your modpack? Server configuration exposes damage, paint duration, colour reactions and many spell parameters. English and Russian translations are included.
Paint boldly. Mix carefully.
