Iron's Botany 2.0.0 (Forge 1.20.1)
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
[2.0.0] — September 1st, 2026
Everything you needed to actually reach Botany content was broken in some way, and all of it failed quietly. This release fixes that chain end to end. No items were removed and no ids changed — your existing worlds and inventories are fine.
This is a major version because Botany scrolls and Mana Inks go from decorative to functional. You can now craft Botany spell scrolls.
Fixed
The Botanical Grimoire wouldn't open. The book was rejected on every world load. It opens now, with all of its categories and entries intact.
You couldn't make Botany scrolls at all. Three separate things blocked it:
- A Botany focus couldn't be placed in the Scroll Forge's focus slot. Both the Botanical Focus and the Spell Petal now work there.
- Minor, Greater and Prime Mana Ink weren't recognized as inks. They now work in the forge at Uncommon, Rare and Epic rarity, exactly as their tooltips claimed.
- With those fixed, Botany spells craft the normal way — through the Scroll Forge, using the school's focus and the right ink rarity. The Grimoire pages that used to show an empty crafting grid now tell you which ink and focus each spell needs.
Botany scrolls and Botany affinity rings showed up as the purple-and-black missing-texture cube. Both now have proper icons. (This was the other half of the old "spell scrolls have no icon" reports — the spell art was always fine, the scroll under it wasn't.)
The Elementium Scroll trade was a trap. The elven trade never triggered, and if it had, it would have eaten your spell-bound scroll and handed back a blank Elementium Scroll that could never hold a spell. The trade works now and carries your spell across, the way the Grimoire always said it would.
The Elementium Scroll had the wrong name. A bound one now reads "<Spell> Elementium Scroll"; an empty one just reads "Elementium Scroll".
Botany kills printed a raw line of code instead of a death message. Fixed, including the player-versus-player wording.
Some spell tooltips could error out on the client if a spell was inspected before the config finished loading. They now fall back to normal values instead. /irons_botany diagnose is safe to run in the same situation.
Changed
- Added two missing entity names and removed a duplicated attribute name from the language files.
- Various internal cleanup: dead recipe files, a redundant damage type, and stale pack metadata removed. None of it was ever loading.
- Build-time and in-game checks now catch missing school icons and broken Grimoire content before a release ships, so this class of silent breakage doesn't recur. Resource packs that replace a scroll or ring icon are reported on
F3+T.
