βοΈ Immersive Ore Expedition π§β¨
A smarter, slower, more adventurous way to discover ores ππ
Immersive Ore Expedition is a NeoForge Minecraft mod focused on making ore discovery feel more like an actual expedition instead of random strip mining. ποΈπ¦
Rather than simply flooding the world with more ore, IOE is being built around a more immersive loop:
π± surface clues → πͺ¨ mine entrances → π§ underground anchors → π targeted ore loads
The goal is to turn mining into exploration, observation, planning, and discovery. βοΈπΊοΈ
π What is IOE?
Immersive Ore Expedition is designed to make ores feel connected to the world around them.
Instead of every valuable resource appearing as random blobs underground, IOE aims to create a more readable and believable mining experience. πβ°οΈπͺ¨
You should eventually be able to notice clues in the world, follow them underground, and discover meaningful ore deposits through exploration. ππ
β Current Project Status
IOE is currently in an early technical foundation phase. π§ͺβοΈ
The current build includes:
-
𧱠Consolidated NeoForge module structure
-
βοΈ Server config foundations
-
π§ Default-off worldgen proof gates
-
πͺ¨ Custom proof feature registration
-
π¦ Configured + placed feature declaration bridge
-
π‘οΈ Resource-policy safety checks
-
π« No fake ore substitution
-
π Documentation and smoke-validation tracking
Current worldgen systems are intentionally cautious and mostly default-off. This means the mod is being built safely before live gameplay features are fully enabled. ππ
π§ Planned Gameplay Direction
The long-term gameplay loop is:
1οΈβ£ Surface Clues π±πͺ¨
Find visible hints in the world that suggest something valuable may exist underground.
2οΈβ£ Mine Entrances βοΈπͺ
Discover small, natural-looking entry points connected to deeper underground systems.
3οΈβ£ Mineshaft Anchors πͺ΅π―οΈ
Follow underground structures or anchor points that guide exploration.
4οΈβ£ Anchored Ore Loads ππͺ¨
Find ore deposits that feel intentional, rare, and rewarding.
π Design Philosophy
IOE is built around a few core principles:
-
π§ Exploration over strip mining
-
π World clues over randomness
-
π Meaningful ore discovery
-
π‘οΈ Safe registry/resource handling
-
βοΈ Default-off experimental systems
-
π« No fake resources
-
π Clear validation before gameplay claims
This mod is not trying to make mining easier.
It is trying to make mining more interesting. βοΈβ¨
π‘οΈ Resource Safety
IOE is built with strict resource-policy rules. π§°
That means:
-
β Real loaded registry entries are respected
-
β Missing resources are skipped safely
-
β Strict exclusions win
-
β Optional integrations stay optional
-
π« Fake ores are not invented
-
π« Missing resources are not replaced with random fallback blocks
If a resource is not actually available, IOE avoids pretending it exists. π§ͺπ
β οΈ Important Note
This mod is still under active development. π§
Some systems are present as scaffolding, proof gates, or declaration bridges, but the complete live gameplay loop is not finished yet. π±β‘οΈβοΈβ‘οΈπ
Current builds should be treated as early technical releases, not final gameplay-complete releases.
Manual client/server/world smoke validation is still required before live world placement or full gameplay proof is claimed. π§ͺπ
π§ Configuration
IOE currently keeps experimental worldgen behavior safe by default. βοΈπ
Important defaults include:
worldgen.runtimePlacementEnabled = false
worldgen.runtimePlacementDiagnostics = false
worldgen.runtimeProofFeatureEnabled = false
worldgen.runtimeProofFeatureDiagnostics = false
worldgen.provinces.runtimeIntegrationEnabled = false
worldgen.provinces.resourcePolicyRules = []
This means default worlds should remain safe/no-op unless experimental features are explicitly enabled. π‘οΈπ
π§ͺ For Testers
If you are testing IOE, please report:
-
π§Ύ Minecraft version
-
π§Ύ NeoForge version
-
π§Ύ IOE jar filename
-
π§Ύ Config values used
-
π§Ύ Latest log excerpts
-
π§Ύ Crash reports, if any
-
π§Ύ Whether client/server/world smoke was actually run
Clear evidence helps separate real gameplay proof from untested scaffolding. π¬β
π§ Roadmap Preview
Future work may include:
-
π± Better surface clue logic
-
βοΈ Mine entrance generation
-
πͺ΅ Mineshaft anchor behavior
-
π Anchored ore-load placement
-
π§ Province-aware ore distribution
-
π Optional prospecting-style integrations
-
π More believable underground discovery systems
Each feature will be added carefully, with validation boundaries and safe defaults. π‘οΈβοΈ
β€οΈ Why Use This Mod?
Use Immersive Ore Expedition if you want mining to feel less like:
“Dig in a straight line until numbers go up.” π΄
And more like:
“Read the world, follow the clues, descend underground, and discover something rare.” π§βοΈπβ¨
