What's new

Hyper Fermentation — 0.16.33 to 0.17.1

This update brings easier beginner brewing, a clearer guidebook, expanded automation, draft serving, Create compatibility, custom intoxication, and a long list of fixes to machines and item rendering.

0.17.1 — Intoxication fixes and improvements

  • Fixed drinking in creative mode not applying custom intoxication.
  • Added four intoxication stages: Warm Glow, Tipsy, Drunk, and Unsteady.
  • Added an alcohol meter showing your current stage, intensity, time until sober, and movement penalty.
  • Increased the default movement penalties to 4% when Tipsy, 8% when Drunk, and 12% when Unsteady. Warm Glow has no movement penalty.
  • Added settings to adjust the maximum movement penalty or disable it.
  • Added a client setting to hide the alcohol meter.
  • Added drink tooltip information and clearer feedback showing how much a drink contributes to intoxication.
  • Fixed fallback alcohol strength for spirit blends such as whiskey and brandy. Bottles with recorded proof retain their existing values.
  • Bottles, cans, jugs, flasks, and draft mugs now apply the same alcohol dose for the same drink.
  • Added /hypersdrinks alcohol to check the loaded mod version, intoxication level, recovery time, and relevant settings.
  • Added /hypersdrinks alcohol clear for operators to clear their own intoxication during testing.
  • Intoxication still fades gradually while playing, persists through logout, and resets on death.
  • Milk does not instantly sober you up. It temporarily removes the visible effect, but remaining alcohol exposure restores it.
  • Existing drink benefits remain active.
  • No forced attack or block-placement delays, camera shake, or nausea in the default custom system.
  • Existing world settings are preserved. If movement penalties were previously disabled, the status feedback now makes that clear.

0.17.0 — Custom intoxication and Create compatibility

Custom intoxication

  • Added accumulated alcohol exposure based on drink proof.
  • Added custom intoxication stages, a status effect, and drinking feedback.
  • Stronger drinks increase intoxication more quickly.
  • Added gradual recovery, saved exposure, and configurable movement penalties.
  • Prevented repeated drinks from stacking duplicate movement modifiers.
  • Added an option to disable custom intoxication and restore the previous alcohol effects.

Create pipes, pumps, and tanks

  • Added the Beverage Transfer station with Pour and Bottle modes.
  • Added fluid transport for finished drinks and all syrup varieties.
  • Drinks and syrups can travel through Create pipes, powered pumps, and Fluid Tanks.
  • Each serving uses 250 mB.
  • Transport preserves drink names, quality, proof, flavor, batch and bottle identity, finishing, and storage history.
  • Different drink records refuse to mix instead of losing or averaging their data. Individual bottles generally need separate tanks or an emptied route.
  • Partial transfers must reach a complete serving before producing a finished item.
  • Added Sealed Beverage Samples to recover the exact remaining fluid when a Beverage Transfer station breaks.
  • Finished drinks return and require their matching containers.
  • Syrup transfer does not create or consume glass bottles.
  • Drinks do not continue fermenting or gain aging quality inside transport tanks.
  • Time in fluid transport counts toward warm exposure, without flask insulation.
  • Create remains optional.

Create milling

  • Added seven optional milling recipes:
    • Potatoes
    • Sweet berries
    • Apples
    • Pears
    • Cherries
    • Peaches
    • Plums
  • Each recipe produces the matching pressed ingredient.
  • Left Create’s existing wheat and sugar-cane recipes unchanged.

Guide updates

  • Added Pipes and Milling and Alcohol Effects guide pages.
  • Added contextual instructions for the Beverage Transfer station.
  • Documented fluid mixing restrictions, container returns, and partial-fluid recovery.

Beverage transport is intended for closed pipe-and-tank routes. Open outlets, fluid-consuming recipes, and other mods’ block-breaking behavior can still consume or spill fluid.

0.16.68 — Guidebook cleanup

  • Replaced the large opening catalog with a shorter starting page.
  • Added one recommended milkshake walkthrough and a separate first-brew route.
  • Reduced the beginner section to milkshakes, first brewing, soda, and drink storage.
  • Moved precision climate, aging, mastery, packaging, and draft serving into optional sections.
  • Shortened First Brew to four numbered stages with a supply list and clearer slot instructions.
  • Removed outdated instructions implying that powered climate equipment was required before trying fermentation.
  • Preserved the existing recipe diagrams, scenes, page links, and machine help.

0.16.67 — Easier beginner brewing

  • Unlocked basic Honey Mead at mastery 0, alongside Grain Brew.
  • Kept higher mastery requirements for specialty meads.
  • Added ambient barrel fermentation and aging without requiring powered climate equipment.
  • Ambient temperature considers biome, time, elevation, and nearby heating or cooling blocks.
  • Lit furnaces, campfires, lava, fire, and magma can warm nearby barrels.
  • Ice and snow can cool nearby barrels.
  • Heating and cooling effects are limited to prevent excessive stacking.
  • Added named temperature tiers and clearer climate tooltips.
  • Ambient batches progress at half speed within a more forgiving temperature range.
  • Unsuitable ambient temperatures pause progress without adding new climate damage.
  • Controlled rooms retain their faster processing and precision-care benefits.
  • Existing contamination is not removed by switching to ambient brewing.
  • Added contextual barrel instructions when sneak-right-clicking with an empty hand.
  • Added clearer advice for missing inputs, fermentation progress, temperature problems, and bottling.
  • Fixed purifier fluid connections becoming unavailable during bucket and retained-output cycles.

0.16.66 — Flat syrup textures

  • Converted all ten syrup items to flat 2D sprites.
  • Added distinct colors for apple, pear, cherry, peach, plum, berry, melon, honey, cocoa, and glowberry syrup.

0.16.65 — Block and item rendering fixes

  • Fixed missing exposed surfaces on the Kegging Machine.
  • Fixed related surface problems on generator variants and banded barrels.
  • Repaired empty-mug and draft-package geometry.
  • Fixed syrup liquid textures using transparent item artwork, which caused holes and distorted fragments.
  • Preserved existing recipes, item identities, and saved data.

0.16.64 — Natural conditioning and forced carbonation

  • Added optional natural keg conditioning.
  • Prime an unfinished keg with sugar and leave it in suitable cold-room conditions to develop natural sparkle.
  • Natural conditioning takes ten minutes of suitable loaded processing time.
  • Conditioning pauses when conditions are unsuitable and retains progress when the keg is moved or saved.
  • Serving from a keg before conditioning finishes leaves those servings unfinished.
  • Added forced carbonation through the Carbonation Tank.
  • Forced finishing uses an unfinished, unprimed keg, one redstone pressure charge, and 1000 mB of water.
  • Forced finishing takes sixty loaded seconds.
  • Added finish labels to individual servings.
  • Added tavern premiums of +2 emeralds for natural conditioning and +1 for forced finishing, subject to existing payout limits.
  • Preserved each serving’s original identity, flavor, quality, and proof.
  • Prevented the same serving from being finished repeatedly.
  • Added guide and JEI instructions for both methods.

0.16.63 — Draft feedback and screen improvements

  • Taps now distinguish between missing mugs, empty kegs, ambiguous connections, ready service, and finished output.
  • Finished drinks remain visibly collectable after their source keg empties or disconnects.
  • Loading a mug now confirms collection or explains why the mug was queued.
  • Simplified keg-storage screens by hiding irrelevant controls.
  • Improved next-drink information and retrieval feedback.
  • Disabled retrieval actions when there are no machine inputs to retrieve.

  • Full kegs seal automatically.
  • Added comparator signals for keg stock levels.
  • Added item automation and Brewery Hub support.
  • Added bounded draft networks with checks for ambiguous keg connections.
  • Added draft connections through Sealed Fluid Ports without opening cold-room walls.
  • Kegs retain their contents through saving, breaking, and placement.
  • Placed kegs can use cold-room storage; carried kegs still accumulate warm exposure.
  • Tavern Counters can serve villagers from connected kegs using a reusable mug.
  • Added a chilled-draft tavern premium.
  • Added guide and JEI support for the draft-serving loop.

0.16.61 — Brewery Generator and mash residue

  • Added the Brewery Generator.
  • Generates 80 FE/t with a 250,000 FE buffer.
  • Supplies adjacent compatible devices and supports external FE connections.
  • Accepts furnace fuels, Spent Grain, and Fruit Pomace.
  • Pauses fuel use when its energy buffer is full.
  • Added automated fuel input and retained fuel-container output.
