Heartcore Mode

Adds a new "Heartcore" difficulty mode.

Heartcore Mode

A roguelike Heartcore game mode for Minecraft NeoForge. Every death shaves max health off permanently. Discover Hearts in dungeon chests to restore your lost vitality, push your health limit past the 20 HP default up to 40 HP (20 hearts), and craft the protective Life Source Lamp for your sanctuary.

Key Features

  • 🎮 A Real Game Mode: "Heartcore" is selected directly in the Create New World screen alongside Survival, Hardcore, and Creative.
  • 💔 High Stakes Death: Every death permanently costs 1 heart (2.0 max HP). Your health never drops below 3 hearts (6.0 HP) — there is no instant game over, but survival becomes significantly more challenging.
  • ❤️ The Heart Item: Found in structure chests (Dungeons, Mineshafts, Strongholds, Ancient Cities, Bastions, Woodland Mansions, End Cities) or as a very rare drop from Villagers. Consuming it restores 1 heart, or increases your health ceiling up to 40 HP (20 hearts) if already full. Grants the powerful effects of an Enchanted Golden Apple.
  • 🏮 Life Source Lamp: A mystical lantern crafted from 8 Hearts surrounding a Torch. Bestows constant Regeneration and Absorption buffs to all players within a 64-block radius.
  • ⚖️ Clean Compatibility: Uses dedicated AttributeModifiers, preserving health bonuses from other mods (Curios, accessories, armor, and potions) without clipping bugs.
  • ⚙️ Fully Configurable: All health penalties, recovery values, loot chances, and beacon parameters can be customized via config.

    • End City Chests — 35% chance
    • Villagers — 1% chance on death
  • Modpack & Datapack Support: Add more food items that restore health by appending to the heartcore:restores_max_health item tag or via extra_restoring_items in the config (e.g. Enchanted Golden Apple, Golden Apple).
