The original Harder Farther has become too complex to support and maintain in a timely fashion given the rapid point releases. The new version also lets users pick and choose which features to use.

New Version Features (Harder Farther Core)
This new Core Mod only supports:
* Calculating complex total difficulty for other Harder Farther Mods
* Applying Monster Attributes based on a difficulty calculated based on distance from spawn.
* Maintaining Fog according to configuration (Off, GrimLife only, Everything (GrimLife and Distance)
* Sending a complex difficulty value to Grim Citadels and Loot Control Utility if they are running.
The code for Grim Citadels and Loot Boosting based on distance are now separate mods which will ask this mod for difficulty if it is running.

Mob Boosts
By default, only monsters are boosted. There is an option to boost all living entities. Cows and Villagers as well as Creepers and Zombies. ( this is in version 28 onwards. This is posted for 1.20.2 and 1.21.1 but not yet for 1.21.5-- expected by 4/20/2025)
By default, Mobs are boosted in power starting at 1000 meters and increasing to maximum at 30,000 meters. About 3.3% per 1000 meters. On multiplayer servers, I recommend you configure this to vary from 1000 meters to 50,000 meters or even 100,000 meters (or increase the maximum by 3,000 meters per active player so if you have 20 players, set the maximum to about 60,000 meters).
At maximum distance they have 200% more hit points, do 100% more damage, are 50% faster, and resist 70% of knockback distance. They drop 100% more experience points.
Fog Effects
By default, HFC creates a red fog based on distance from Spawn, Life Points, and Grim Citadels. This fog appears pinkish when the boosts are low and crimson when in very high difficulty areas but finally clears when very close to grim towers past the configured maximum range from spawn.
Fog Configuration:
* 0 Turns off the fog effects
* 1 Turns on fog effects only for grim citadels
* 2 Adds fog effects for distance from Worldspawn Life Points.

Set debugging levels to get information in the log files so you can confirm it is working in the way you wanted.
Print the Boost values (for Health, Movement Speed, Attack Damage, and Knock Back Resistance)
Print an info report of the config file settings.
Why?
The original Harder Farther Mod has become very big. It touches many Minecraft functional areas and that makes it fairly brittle too.
By breaking it into several pieces, only the parts you want will be in memory.
And HFC (as well as HF Loot Boost and HF Grim Citadels) should be easier to maintain.
It also opens the possibility for other modders to use the difficulty function as it provides an interface now.
