Hard Hoof

Build the computer that reprograms the world.

Hard Hoof started as me turning Minecraft into what I wanted it to be. It's a kitchen-sink overhaul where fantasy adventure and deep tech share one world. Build factories, grow stronger, explore strange places, and eventually program the world itself.

Play it as a guided story of discovery, or dig into power grids, code and systems as hard(hoof) as you want. It's built on the latest, bleeding-edge version of Minecraft.

One jar. Hard Hoof ships as a single jar that contains every part: Core, Tech, Adventure and Portals. More parts are on the way.

What's inside

Factories and power

• Real DC power in watts and joules: generators, steam turbines, dyeable cables and stored energy.
• Machines that explain themselves: every screen shows its goal, inputs, outputs and why it's stopped.
• Pipes, powered item and fluid tanks, and controllers that move items and fluids for you.
• An Assembler that crafts whole chains from your storage, from logs to planks to tools.

Computers you actually program

• Terminals run VoltOS, a windowed desktop with apps, disks and a shell.
• Write your own programs in Volt, and let them run your factory.
• Build server racks from parts: CPUs, memory, drives and network cards, stamped with your company's name.
• Network your bases with routers, public addresses and your own domains. Set up logins for your team.
• Burn programs onto microcontrollers, and research new blueprints and ready-made programs.

Adventure

• Earn Adventure XP and grow six stats: Vitality, Defense, Toughness, Might, Agility and Industry.
• Explore new places, starting with Backrooms Level 0.

Portals

• See-through portals you can walk straight through into another dimension, with no loading screen (operator tools for now).

Press H for the radial menu and the field guide: it walks you through each machine with a working first example. Your first build is the Machine Workshop.
