Handy Enchantments

Six practical enchantments: break a whole ore vein, fell a whole tree with leaves that actually fall, pull dropped items from 11 blocks away, climb ladders four times faster, light up caves from your helmet, and keep a good tool from ever breaking.

What's new

Changelog

All notable changes to Handy Enchantments are listed here, newest first. The format follows Keep a Changelog. Versions are MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH: MAJOR for a rework or a new Minecraft version, MINOR for a new feature, PATCH for a bug fix and for every rebuilt release, even a cosmetic one.

[1.1.0] — 2026-09-05

Added

  • Swift Climb (boots, one level) — ladders, vines and anything else climbable carry the wearer up and down four times as fast. Both directions are covered: vanilla limits the climb up and the slide down in two separate places, and the enchantment scales both. Crouching still pins the player to the ladder.
  • Configuration option climbSpeedMultiplier (default 4.0, allowed 1.0 to 8.0).

Note

  • Movement is worked out on each player's own client, so Swift Climb takes effect for players who have the mod installed, the same as Fullbright. Mobs are moved by the server and are covered either way.

[1.0.0] — 2026-09-05

First release. Built for Minecraft 26.2 with Fabric Loader 0.19.3+, Fabric API and Java 25.

Added

  • Vein Miner (pickaxe) — breaks a whole ore vein from a single block. Stone and deepslate variants of the same ore count as one vein.
  • Tree Feller (axe) — fells an entire tree from a single log, and the orphaned leaves crumble within seconds instead of decaying over minutes.
  • Magnet (chestplate, three levels) — pulls dropped items in from 5, 8 or 11 blocks away. Items the player has just thrown out keep their pickup delay and are left alone.
  • Fullbright (helmet) — lights the world as if brightness were far past the vanilla limit, without touching the options file.
  • Break Protection (tools and weapons) — durability never falls below one point; the item survives but cannot be used until repaired.
  • Chain mining stops before the last durability point, so an enchanted tool never breaks mid-vein.
  • All five enchantments appear at the enchanting table, from villagers and in chest loot, and are compatible with every vanilla enchantment.
  • Configuration file config/coobenchants.json for chain limits, leaf decay, helmet brightness and the radius, growth and pull speed of Magnet.
  • Enchantment definitions ship as data-driven JSON, so level costs, rarity and supported items can be overridden by a world datapack.
  • Game tests covering Break Protection, Mending on a protected item and every Magnet rule.
