GuildCraft: Contracts & Forestry
The Hunters' Guild is hiring. Kill, mine, deliver — then let the forest work for you.
You've got a village, a pickaxe and far too much free time? The Hunters' Guild pays in cold, hard emeralds. Fill its contracts, earn its trust, and pour your gold into fully automatic wood machines. From odd jobs to a forestry empire.
⚔️ The Bounty Hunter
Place a Contract Table near a village and an unemployed villager will claim it, becoming a Bounty Hunter. Right-click him to open his board.
He always offers three contracts, one of each kind:
- 🗡️ Kill — from silverfish to ravagers, by way of wither skeletons and ghasts
- ⛏️ Mine — from netherrack to ancient debris, obsidian and emerald included
- 📦 Deliver — from carrots to diamonds, blaze rods and gold ingots
70 contracts in all, on a sliding scale of difficulty. Every draw is different: you'll never see the same board twice.
📜 The bounty voucher
Accepting a contract costs 1 emerald and hands you a bounty voucher. That voucher is your contract: it carries your progress wherever you go. Lose it, and you lose everything.
Hold it and right-click into thin air: a notepad pins itself to the side of your screen and tracks your progress live. For delivery contracts it even counts the items in your inventory as you pick them up.
Bring it back to your Contract Table to collect.
⏳ Daily and weekly contracts
Below the ordinary contracts, the board posts two special bounties that run on real-world time:
- 🕐 The daily contract — 24 hours to finish it, 20 to 28 emeralds
- 🧭 The weekly contract — 7 days, up to 100 emeralds. The Great Works: 3,333 stone is waiting for you.
They rotate on their own, are the same for every player, and sidestep the Hunter's cooldown entirely. One rule only: one per period — and the clock never stops, not even with the server shut down.
🤝 Trust
Every bounty you turn in deepens your bond with the Hunter who issued it. The more he trusts you, the better he pays:
- Tier 1 — 8 contracts turned in — +5% rewards, 5% off machines
- Tier 2 — 25 contracts — +10% rewards, 10% off machines
- Tier 3 — 50 contracts — +15% rewards, 15% off machines
- Tier 4 — 90 contracts — +20% rewards, 25% off machines
Trust is earned one villager at a time: stay loyal to a single Hunter, or build a network. Both have advancements waiting.
🪓 The machines
The Machines tab of the Contract Table sells three automatons. They cost trust as much as emeralds, and chain together with plain hoppers.
- Woodcutter — 108 emeralds, Tier 2 — fells every tree in its chunk and replants the exact species
- Sawmill — 188 emeralds, Tier 3 — turns logs into planks, ×6 per log
- Charcoal Kiln — 320 emeralds, Tier 4 — bakes logs into charcoal, ×2, and four logs at once
The Woodcutter knows a tree from your house: it only touches trunks that are genuinely leafy.
🏆 Progression
- 15 advancements — from the first handshake to Guild Legend (100 bounties) and Right-Hand Man (maximum trust with a single Hunter)
- A welcome manual handed to you on first join: 8 pages covering the whole loop
- Anti-farm built in: spawner mobs only count up to 30 per hour
⚙️ Configuration
Everything is tuned in config/guildcraft.json, no recompiling: reward scaling, trust tiers, machine prices, cooldowns, automation speed, maximum density per chunk. The contracts themselves are datapack JSON files — add your own and they load automatically.
