Great Sage - Tensura Reincarnated Addon

The Great Sage finally speaks: every skill announced by name in Japanese, the anime's evolutions and ceremonies as full-screen scenes, a console (G), assess (V), Magic Sense auras and voice commands. A Tensura: Reincarnated addon.

What's new

The Sage now looks like the Sage

The old announcement was a dark screen with text slamming into it. It looked fine, but it looked like nothing in particular. The whole thing was thrown out and rebuilt around what the Great Sage actually is:

  • a wireframe icosahedron, computed in real 3D — 12 vertices, 30 edges, rotating on two axes. Each edge dims with depth, so the back faces recede and the front ones catch the light. It is a solid seen in space, not a flat drawing being spun.
  • three orbital rings, tilted differently, drawn as spaced beads, two turning one way and one the other
  • eighteen dashed radial rays streaming outward
  • a central star with long and short spikes
  • drifting motes

Rendering changed underneath too. Everything used to be flat one-pixel rectangles, which is why it read as paint rather than light — where two lines crossed, one simply covered the other. It is now additive blending over gradients generated at startup, so crossing lights add up and burn white. No texture files ship with the mod; they are computed on load.

The palette is the Sage's own white-green on a very dark green field, no longer black. Skill tier colour is now only an accent.

The Sage reacts to its own voice

The renderer has no access to the audio Minecraft is playing. So the audio is analysed the other way round: every clip's amplitude envelope is computed when the sounds are built and shipped with the mod — one value per tick, 21 KB for all 230 files.

At runtime the game knows which clip is playing and how far into it, so it reads the envelope at the right offset. The core breathes with the voice: the icosahedron swells on peaks, edges brighten, rays stretch, and the central star goes from half to full brightness. Interpolated between ticks so it never steps.

Ceremony subtitles

Ceremony lines run 9 to 16 seconds. Unless you read Japanese, you had no idea what had just been announced.

Subtitles are now shown, in English and French, and their timing is derived from the audio itself: the same amplitude envelopes are scanned for silences, and sentence changes are placed in the gaps — exactly where the Sage draws breath. Re-record a clip and it re-syncs on its own; there is no timing file to maintain.

New sounds

  • The Sage's manifestation now plays at the start of every announcement, before the Koku
  • An impact sound lands on each skill name as it slams into place — skill names only, never on ceremonies
  • All five ceremony voice lines re-recorded, and longer. The Harvest Festival line was corrected: 収穫祭 is written in kanji but pronounced Hāvesuto Fesutibaru — the previous take read the kanji instead of the furigana
  • All unique skill clips re-imported

New content

Reason-Destroying Sword, Venuzdonoa — a Unique skill. Activating it drives the blade up through the ground in front of you until it stands planted, with debris and a low impact. Purely a set piece for now: no combat effect yet.

This is the mod's first piece of playable content. If you only want the announcements, the skill can simply never be learned — nothing grants it automatically.

Fixes

  • Ceremony titles were off-centre. Their width was measured with letter spacing but drawn without it, pushing the text left by half the accumulated spacing. The longer the title, the worse it looked.
  • The core could grow off-screen. It scaled with the text block, so a big batch of skills pushed it past the edges. It is now capped at 44% of the smaller screen dimension.
  • Long announcements are paginated. Past what the screen can hold, the block clears and starts again from the top with the rest, following the voice. A category header never gets stranded alone at the bottom of a page.
  • The impact sound cut off abruptly. A 140 ms fade-out is applied when the sounds are built.
  • Subtitles were far too intrusive: the full-width band is gone, replaced by a veil sized to the text, smaller and dimmer.

Config

  • enableSfx — turns the manifestation and impact sounds on or off
  • The in-game mod list description is now in English
