Great Sage
The Great Sage finally has a voice — and now it answers back.
An addon for Tensura: Reincarnated that gives Daikenja what the base mod never had time to give it: a voice, a presence, and something to say.
Every skill you unlock gets announced out loud, in Japanese, with clips from the show. Every evolution. Every awakening. And since 0.0.4 it does more than react — it has an interface you can open, it reads creatures for you, and it comments on what you are doing while you play.
759 voice clips · 546 skills · 140 species · 8 mods supported

Why this exists
I kept unlocking skills in Tensura and reading them in chat. That was it. No voice. The single most iconic thing about the Great Sage — that flat, calm system voice telling you exactly what you just gained — was not there.
What I found announced skill tiers with generic jingles. One sound for "you got a unique skill". None of them say the name of the skill.
So I recorded them. All of them.
It announces what you gain
Unlock a skill and Great Sage says it. Not a chat line — the full thing.
A wireframe icosahedron computed in real 3D, ringed by orbital bands, crossed by dashed rays. The skill name slams into place with an impact sound.
The core breathes with the voice: it swells on peaks, edges brighten, rays stretch. That is not a loop. Every clip's amplitude envelope is computed when the sounds are built and shipped with the mod, so the visuals follow the actual audio being spoken, syllable by syllable.
Unlock ten skills at once and you get one announcement, grouped by class — not ten stacked on top of each other.
Prefer something discreet? Quiet mode puts Great Sage in the bottom right corner with a small bubble instead of taking the screen. Same voice, nothing darkened, you keep playing.
It announces what you become
Species evolution gets its own scene. Great Sage states the conditions are met, addresses a petition to the Voice of the World, waits — deliberately long, because nothing says it will be granted — then confirms, and names the species you are leaving and the one you are becoming.
The core charges until it cannot hold. The shell bursts into twenty solid plates, each tumbling with a trail. The naked core beats alone. Then a new shell, four times denser, crystallises outward from the centre and locks into place on the exact frame the new species name lands.
The five progression steps each have their own presentation and their own recorded line: Hero Egg · Demon Lord Seed · Harvest Festival · True Hero · True Demon Lord. During the two awakenings you cannot take damage — the animation is long and you cannot move.
It has a menu — press G Only if you actually carry the Great Sage skill.
The shell does not fade in. Its thirty edges fly in from outside the screen, spinning and trailing, and lock into place with a flash. The faculties orbit around the core, tied to it by sagging threads. Closing plays it backwards.
Analyzing — Great Sage decomposes a skill so you master it without ever using it. The price is real and enforced server side: the skill cannot be used while it is being analysed. Duration scales with rarity, from twice as long for a common up to eight times for an ultimate. Progress lives on the server, so closing the menu or logging out changes nothing.
Records — every skill in your modpack, not just the ones you have. Class, mastery percentage, magicule cost to learn, and which mod it came from. Useful when you have no idea which addon added the thing. Searchable.
Observations — everything you have scanned, kept on file: the creature's 3D model, its abilities grouped by class, and its average existence value across every reading, with the sample count. Two goblins are not the same goblin, so keeping the last number seen would be keeping an accident.
It reads the world — press V
Assess mode. The interface disappears exactly like F1 and a blue filter drops over everything.
Every living thing gets an aura sized by its existence value — logarithmic, so a creature a thousand times stronger does not fill the screen. Auras are visible through walls: an aura is a reading of power, not an object in the world.
Lock a target, hold the key, stay within range, and the ring fills. You get its species, existence value, health and its rarest abilities — and the sheet lands in your Observations.
Standing near something far above you makes you sick. Real nausea, and it scales with the gap.
And not everything can be read. Past a certain threshold the target refuses. Great Sage says so, the screen tears itself apart, the mode cuts out — and nothing about the target is revealed.
It talks to you
Thirty lines it says on its own, based on what you are doing:
- ore hidden behind the block you just broke
- a cavity right under your feet
- lava three blocks away
- something walking up behind you
- a tool about to break, or a better pickaxe sleeping in your bag
- an abnormally magicule-dense area
- your existence value approaching an evolution
It is deliberately restrained. There is a general silence between any two comments, and the ones that stop being useful have a cap — "it's dark here" is worth saying six times, not sixty. Warnings that can save your life have no cap. All of it is configurable, and one switch turns the whole thing off.

546 skill clips — resistances, intrinsics, commons, extras, uniques and ultimates, all six classes.
140 species — all 68 from Tensura: Reincarnated, plus 72 from Ascension, SlimeThroneExtras and Jeremis Tensura.
Skills from an addon you do not have simply stay silent. Nothing breaks, Great Sage just never has a reason to name them. Subtitles in English and French, timed from the audio itself.

Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1
- NeoForge 21.1.0+
- Tensura: Reincarnated 2.0.0.0+, with ManasCore and Architectury
Addons are optional — the mod adapts to whatever is loaded.
Bonus
Reason-Destroying Sword, Venuzdonoa — a Unique skill. Activating it drives the blade up through the ground in front of you until it stands planted, with debris and a low impact. Pure set piece for now, no combat effect. Nothing grants it automatically, so if you only want the announcements you can simply never learn it.
PS
It's the first Minecraft mod I've ever made, so expect bugs.
Bug reports and missing lines are genuinely useful. If a skill announces with a silent gap where its name should be, the clip just isn't recorded yet — adding it takes minutes.
