Grassier Grass - Make it compatible
A compatibility patch for Grassier Grass on Forge 1.20.1. Grassier Grass grows its blades only on the vanilla grass block, so in a pack whose ground is another mod's grass it draws only the few plants it re-renders. This patch lets it treat a list of blocks and block tags as grass, TerraFirmaCraft's grass included from the start.

Modded grass
- Blades grow on every block in the list as if it were the vanilla grass block. The default,
#tfc:grass, covers TerraFirmaCraft and packs built on it such as TerraFirmaGreg. - The same list decides where loose blades fly on the wind and where entities leave a trail in the grass.
Blade colour
- Grassier Grass reads tint layer 0. TerraFirmaCraft's grass is a dirt texture with a tinted overlay on layer 1, which would leave the blades white.
- When that layer has no colour, the patch tries layers 0 to 2 and then the biome's grass colour.
- Snow-covered grass is asked for its colour as if the snow were gone.
The block list
grassBlocksinconfig/micgrass-client.toml. An entry is a block id (modid:block) or a block tag (#modid:tag).- Tags come from the server, so a tag entry works on any server that has the mod defining it.
- An id that is not a registered block is skipped with a warning in the log.
Grassier Grass updates
- Grassier Grass is closed source, so the patch finds its code by name. It was written against 1.4.5.
- If an update moves that code, the affected part switches off with a warning in the log. The game does not crash.
- On entering a world the log has one
Patched Grassier Grassline for each of the four classes it patches.
Requirements
Minecraft 1.20.1, Java 17, Forge 47 and Grassier Grass. Client only: servers do not need it. Without Grassier Grass the mod loads and does nothing. It contains none of its code
