Description
Grand Terrain
Grand Terrain replaces the overworld generation with much bigger terrain. Mountains can get over 1500 blocks tall, rivers run through the valleys between them, and the caves underground are a lot bigger than vanilla’s. Build height is raised to 2000, so you’ve got plenty of room.
What it adds
- Massive mountains with snow on top. They’re smooth and rounded, not spiky.
- Plateau mountains with steep rock cliffs and flat tops you can build on.
- Rivers through the lowlands and smaller streams through the hills. Some cliffs have waterfalls coming out of them.
- Flat areas, hills and coastlines too, so the whole world isn’t just mountains.
- Huge caves, around twice the size of vanilla ones.
- Coal, iron and emerald higher up in the mountains, so there’s a reason to climb them.
- 2000 build height.
Performance
A lot of big terrain mods take ages to load or lag constantly. I put a lot of work into making this one fast. New worlds load in under a minute on my laptop, and it runs fine while you play.
Distant Horizons
This mod works well with Distant Horizons, and that’s the best way to play it. You can see mountains from really far away. If you’re recording or taking screenshots, use /grandvistas pregen <radius> to load the area around you first, so everything shows up with trees.
Compatibility
- Fabric 1.20.1, needs Fabric API
- Works with Biomes O’ Plenty, Oh The Biomes We’ve Gone and other TerraBlender biome mods
- Tested with Sodium, Iris and Distant Horizons
Before you play
- Give Minecraft at least 6 to 8 GB of RAM. Worlds this tall use more memory.
- You need to make a new world. It won’t work on old ones.
If you like exploring or just want to see how far your PC can push it, give it a try.
