Gemini Companion is a Minecraft mod that adds a full‑fledged AI companion based on Google Gemini directly into the game.

Chat with Gemini via the regular in‑game chat, ask questions, request advice, discuss Minecraft, or just keep the conversation going — all without leaving the game.

The mod uses your own Gemini API Key, so you control access to the API yourself.

📜 Commands
/gemini key <API-Key>

Saves your Gemini API Key for future use.

Example:

/gemini key YOUR_API_KEY
/gemini chat <message>

Sends a Gemini message and outputs the response directly in Minecraft.

Example:

/gemini chat Hi! What should I build in this world?
/gemini clear

Clears the current conversation history.

Example:

/gemini clear
/gemini status

Shows the current state of the settings and connection to the Gemini API.

Example:

/gemini status
🔑 Getting an API Key

To use the mod, you need your own Gemini API Key.

You can get the key in the official Google AI Studio:

After getting the key, launch Minecraft and run:

/gemini key YOUR_API_KEY

After that, you can use the /gemini chat command.

⚠️ Important: do not publish your API Key and do not send it to other people. Keep the key safe.

📦 Installation
Install the appropriate version of Minecraft and the necessary modloader.
Download the latest version of Gemini Companion.
Place the .jar file of the mod in the mods folder.
Launch Minecraft.
Get the Gemini API Key via Google AI Studio.

Save the key using:

/gemini key YOUR_API_KEY

Start chatting:

/gemini chat Hello Gemini!

⚠️ The mod requires an internet connection to function, as requests are sent to the Gemini API.

Why isn’t Gemini responding?

First, try:

/gemini status

Check that the API Key is correct and that you have an internet connection.

Also make sure that your API Key is valid and has access to the Gemini API.

Errors appear in the chat. What to do?

If errors appear while using the mod in Minecraft or something is not working properly, please send me a private message on the website.

Please attach the following to your message:

the error text from the chat;
the Minecraft version;
the mod version;
the modloader being used;
if possible, the latest.log.

Is it possible to clear the conversation history?

Yes. Use:

/gemini clear

After this, Gemini will start a new dialogue without the previous context.

Is a separate account required for the mod?

The mod does not require a separate account. Your own Gemini API Key is used for operation.
