What's new

Galacticraft 5.4.17-prealpha

Modular rockets

  • Added craftable Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 nose cone, body, fins/landing legs, and engine modules, with separate models, textures, and animations for all 12 parts.
  • Rockets can mix parts from different tiers. Their dimensions follow the installed cone and fins, and the engine determines the fuel tier.
  • Made modular assembly the default Rocket Workbench page and removed the old fixed Tier 1/2/3 rocket recipes and their recipe advancements.
  • Updated schematic research and workbench page discovery, including backfilling modular research from existing advancement progress.
  • Updated EMI, JEI, and REI layouts, recipe transfer, default recipes, inventory rendering, and creative inventory entries for modular assembly.
  • Added rocket painting from the workbench: paint the whole rocket or individual parts using dye swatches or a custom RGB color, with previews, original-finish restoration, and reset controls.
  • Paint uses dedicated texture regions so windows, mechanical details, and other unpainted surfaces retain their original appearance. Colors persist through saves, networking, inventory models, and world rendering.
  • Added rocket refitting: insert an existing rocket, remove specific modules, swap parts, and take the upgraded rocket back out. Existing Tier 1 rockets already use compatible part data and do not need manual conversion.
  • Refitting preserves upgrades, item metadata, and colors on retained or extracted parts. Replacement parts keep their own finish. Incomplete rockets can be stored but cannot be placed on a launch pad.
  • Added server validation for module types, research, creative rockets, and inventory operations, with duplication protection and persistence when closing or breaking the workbench.
  • Fixed workbench page changes moving the mouse to the center, kept navigation buttons in a consistent position, and aligned the player inventory between assembly and painting.

Rocket fuel and cargo

  • Added configurable GC4 Rocket Fuel Mode, enabled by default for new rockets. Built-in Tier 1 engines use a 1-bucket tank; Tier 2 and Tier 3 engines use 1.5-bucket tanks.
  • Fuel consumption approximates GC4 launch costs while retaining the current flight physics. Mixed rockets use their engine's fuel profile; disabling the mode restores configurable tank size and burn efficiency.
  • Saved rockets retain their fuel mode, tank capacity, and fuel, and capacity now synchronizes with the client.
  • Rebuilt the cargo rocket model and texture with an unmanned freight body, twin engines, and a telescoping fairing.
  • The cargo fairing extends smoothly with the 27-slot hold's contents, from 4.5 blocks tall when empty to 6 blocks when full. Partial stacks and non-stackable items contribute proportionally.
  • Cargo load, dimensions, and fairing animation synchronize during loading, saving/reloading, and travel between dimensions. Updated cargo item rendering and landing tests.

New machines and transport

  • Added the Methane Synthesizer, which combines hydrogen with carbon fragments or atmospheric carbon dioxide to produce methane.
  • Added the Gas Liquefier, which converts methane into rocket fuel and liquefies oxygen, nitrogen, and argon. Atmospheric input can be separated into the available cryogenic products.
  • Added atmospheric gas mixture, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon fluids, canister entries, machine recipes, loot, block/item models, and creative inventory entries.
  • Added gas-machine interfaces, tank displays, start/stop controls, power and capacity checks, atmospheric-valve collection/venting, container transfer, and saved processing state.
  • Added the Geothermal Generator with its own interface, active/inactive models, battery support, enable/disable controls, and acid-exhaust particles. Valid Venus vapor-spout shafts produce 30-200 gJ/t.
  • Replaced Venus vapor-spout generation with a buried sulfuric-acid pool and an open shaft within the generator's scan range. New generation applies in newly generated terrain.
  • Added Short Range Telepads and their frame multiblock, with address/destination controls, charging animation, progress display, and target status messages.
  • Telepads connect unique addresses within the same dimension and less than 256 blocks apart. Stand in the center for 150 ticks; enabled pads use 50 gJ/t, and each end spends 2,500 gJ per teleport.
  • Added destination checks for duplicate/unset addresses, range, dimension, disabled pads, insufficient energy, blocked landing areas, and self-targeting, with server-side edit permissions and saved settings.
  • Added top-center energy input and battery charging for telepads on both loaders. Cached energy capabilities continue to respect the current input configuration.
  • Added Fabric and NeoForge screen, renderer, item-renderer, particle, fluid-type, and energy-capability registrations for the new content, plus the NeoForge Launch Controller screen.
  • Included the GC4 asset license alongside the restored machine textures.

Fixes, translations, and maintenance

  • Fixed NeoForge startup crashing on a duplicate galacticraft:argon fluid registration. Both loaders now share the gas API's existing argon instance, which the liquefier also accepts.
  • Isolated Gradle dev-run classes, resources, and loader metadata from mutable build outputs, preventing rebuilds from removing classes needed by a running game, including the meteor-shower enum helper.
  • Added a runtime-isolation regression task to both CI workflows. Restart a dev client to load rebuilt code.
  • Added 93 Simplified Chinese translations for the new machines, fluids, telepad controls, rocket modules, paint/refit screens, descriptions, and fuel settings, with matching English entries and formatting placeholders.
  • Reduced method complexity in rocket flight/input and workbench code, celestial navigation, airlocks, oxygen sealing, food canning, wrench rotation, lunar burrower behavior, launch-pad assembly, dungeon rooms, crater/chamber carvers, lunar cave decorations, and vacuum-glass geometry.
  • Centralized custom-fluid flow accumulation while retaining its existing behavior, and cleaned up imports/formatting across related rendering, machine, and world-generation code.
  • Tightened PMD's cognitive-complexity threshold to 25 and added regression coverage for the refactored behavior.
  • Expanded unit, GameTest, model, and live-client checks for modular assembly, painting, refitting, fuel balance, cargo fairings, gas processing, geothermal generation, telepads, airlocks, food canning, wrench behavior, custom-fluid flow, and vacuum-glass corners.
  • Made the live rocket UI test wait for inventory/network synchronization before asserting paint results. Added dedicated client test launch options for the new content.
