Galacticraft Boobcat Edition

Unofficial Galacticraft fork for Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric with expanded planets, space weather, restored vehicles, new machines, bosses, dungeons, and configurable space stations.

Galacticraft - Boobcat Edition

An unofficial fork of Galacticraft for Minecraft 1.21.1 (Fabric) that fills out the inner solar system (Mercury, Venus, the Moon, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt) with real, landable, multi-biome worlds, dynamic space weather, restored vehicles, and new machines.

Pre-alpha and experimental. Galacticraft itself is still in alpha, and this fork stacks a lot of extra experimental content on top. Expect bugs and possible world-breaking changes between updates, so please don't use it on worlds you care about. Bug reports are welcome on the issue tracker.

What is this?

Galacticraft - Boobcat Edition is a fork of Team Galacticraft's Galacticraft, built on their 1.21.1 branch. It keeps everything that makes Galacticraft what it is and adds a large batch of new worldgen, dimensions, hazards, vehicles, and machines. Most of it is aimed at making the planets feel like distinct, explorable places instead of flat grey boxes.

Highlights

  • Five reworked or new destinations: Mercury (new and landable), Venus, the Moon, Mars, and the Asteroid Belt, each with proper multi-biome terrain.
  • Dynamic space weather and hazards: Mars dust storms, plus Mercury thermal extremes and solar flares.
  • Vehicles restored and expanded: a working Buggy, an autonomous Astro Miner, a Cargo Rocket, and distinct Tier-2 and Tier-3 rockets.
  • New machines and blocks: energy storage cluster, fluid tank, painter, deconstructor, cargo loader and unloader, oxygen detector, and more.
  • Boss arenas and dungeons: Creeper, Spider, Mars, and Venus bosses, plus an asteroid dungeon.
  • Server-friendly space station controls: enable or disable stations per world, restrict which planets allow them, or merge every station orbiting a planet into one shared dimension built for raiding servers.

Planets and Dimensions

Mercury (new, fully landable dimension)

  • A brand-new landable Mercury dimension with custom worldgen and surface rules, and four biomes: Mercury Plains, Mercury Highlands, Mercury Basin, and Ray Crater Field.
  • New Mercury blocks: Mercury Stone, Surface / Sub-surface / Scarp Rock, and Mercury Crystal Clusters, along with canyon, cave, and cavern carvers and lava lakes.
  • Thermal hazard: searing heat on the day side and lethal cold on the night side (new heat and cold damage types) that you need proper gear or shelter to survive.
  • Solar-flare events: periodic flares with a warning overlay and their own solar_flare damage.
  • Custom sky with an oversized sun over a near-black starfield.

The Moon (complete biome overhaul)

  • Six distinct biomes: Lunar Highlands, Lunar Lowlands, Basaltic Mare, Comet Tundra, Olivine Spikes, and a rare Cheese Grove pocket.
  • Massive craters driven by a dedicated depth-scaling crater carver, plus large-crater and ray-crater variants.
  • New features scattered across the surface: olivine spires, cheese trees and cheese flora, boulders, ice patches and ice boulders, fallen-meteor debris, and a Moon village structure.

Mars (multi-biome overhaul and dust storms)

  • Reworked into a multi-biome world: Highlands, Canyons, Dunes, Volcanics, and Polar regions with polar lake and river beds.
  • Dynamic Dust Storms are the headline feature:
    • Intensity-scaled, four-phase storm events on a configurable schedule.
    • Fog and sky darkening, blowing-dust particles, a screen-tint haze, and a gear-gated forecast HUD so prepared explorers get advance warning.
    • Looping, intensity-scaled wind audio that muffles when you are sheltered.
    • Gameplay effects: storms cut solar-panel output and settle persistent, self-weathering dust on panels, and unprotected players take damage.
    • Backed by a dust_storm damage type with death messages, an operator /duststorm debug command, and a full block of config toggles (interval, duration, intensity, damage, and solar/machine/terrain effects).

Venus (volcanic multi-biome overhaul)

  • Reworked into a volcanic world with six biomes: Highlands, Sulfur Flats, Volcanic Plains, Shield Volcano, Lava Channels, and Lava Sea.
  • Coherent lava seas and rivers generated from a single global lava table (no more disjointed puddles), plus volcano vents, sulfuric-acid hazards, and volcano features.

The Asteroid Belt (reworked)

  • Reworked asteroid chunk generation and the Asteroid Field biome, with an Asteroid Dungeon structure to raid.

Weather and Hazards

Hazard Where What it does
Dust storms Mars Periodic storms cut solar output, coat panels in dust, and damage the unprotected
Heat and cold Mercury Day and night temperature extremes; requires gear or shelter
Solar flares Mercury Timed flare events with a warning overlay and flare damage
Sulfuric acid Venus Corrosive hazard across the volcanic world

Vehicles and Rockets

  • Buggy: fuelling and driving restored (place or dock the buggy item, fuel sync and drain, fuel-loader wiring).
  • Astro Miner: the autonomous mining vehicle rebuilt to match the legacy behaviour, including entity, renderer, screen, item, and base block.
  • Cargo Rocket: an automated cargo-hauling rocket with its own entity, renderer, and model.
  • Tier-2 and Tier-3 Rockets: distinct whole-rocket models (from the legacy meshes), complete part sets (bodies, cones, engines, fins, boosters), crafting recipes, schematics, and rocket-workbench wiring.

Machines and Blocks

Energy Storage Cluster, Fluid Tank, Painter, Deconstructor, Cargo Loader, Cargo Unloader, Oxygen Detector, and Volcano Vent, each with blockstates, models, loot tables, and recipes.

Worldgen: Ores, Bosses, and Structures

  • Per-planet ores: copper, tin, iron, and desh on Mars; aluminum, copper, galena, and tin on Venus; and bonus lunar ores on the Moon.
  • Boss arenas: Creeper, Spider, Mars, and Venus bosses (with reworked boss entities), plus the Asteroid Dungeon.
  • Supporting work: recipe-viewer (JEI, REI, EMI) category updates, creative-tab wiring, and a batch of new config knobs.

Configuration and Server Options

Most systems can be tuned from the in-game config screen (through Mod Menu), which makes the fork easy to shape around a given server or world.

Space stations are now fully configurable:

  • Enable or disable space station creation entirely with a single master toggle, per world.
  • Restrict where stations can be built with a per-body allow-list. List the celestial body IDs that may host a station (for example, galacticraft:earth), or leave it empty to allow every body.
  • Share station dimensions per planet. List the bodies whose stations should all live in one communal dimension, with each player's station scattered far apart at random. This is aimed at raiding and PvP servers: every station orbiting a given planet shares a single dimension, so players can travel to and raid one another. Leave it empty for the classic private, per-player station dimensions.

Other tunables include the full set of Mars dust-storm knobs (interval, duration, intensity, damage, and solar, machine, and terrain effects) and a range of other gameplay toggles.
