Infnexus 2.0.4
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
Fungal Infection: Spore Infnexus 2.0.4
For Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge) and 1.21.1 (NeoForge). Requires Fungal Infection: Spore 2.2 or newer.
The biggest update yet. In 2.0.3 an infected zone was a crust of biomass painted over unchanged terrain. Now the Nexus rebuilds the ground it takes, the zone is made of distinct biomes, and there is a lot more standing in it.
Before you update: delete your old config file (`config/infnexus-common.toml`) and let it regenerate. The layout changed and there are many new settings. Existing worlds are fine.
The Nexus reshapes the land
Terraforming is new. The zone no longer sits on top of the landscape, it replaces it:
- Rolling biomass mounds, and hills of up to 24 blocks where the virus has piled up mass of its own.
- Cracks split the finished ground back open, with bile running along the bottom of them in the wet biomes.
- Craters of bile cut into the ground.
- Around the Nexus itself, hollows are flooded up to its own level, so the core reads as one mass instead of terrain in new colours. Slopes and valleys are kept, not flattened.
- Anything a player digs out of it is repaired.
How far it goes scales with the phase, so an early Nexus is a stain on the map and a late one has rebuilt everything inside its radius.
The zone is a patchwork of biomes
The core and the living zone are rings around the Nexus, because they belong to the Nexus itself. Everything past them is decided by the world seed and the coordinates:
- **Thicket:** mycelium under standing trees that keep their crowns.
- **Burnt forest:** grey ground, snapped trunks, no canopy at all.
- **Bile hollows:** bile showing through the ground in veins, standing pools in the low spots, wet cracks. The only biome that gets craters.
- **Flesh:** an outpost of the core out where it has no business being, with buried organ clusters and no trees left standing. Rare, so it is a thing you come across.
- **Biomass hills:** an inclusion inside the other biomes rather than a biome of its own. It grows where the virus already has mass to pile up.
Two things you will notice everywhere:
- The virus works with what it finds. The base ground comes from the local terrain, so a Nexus in a desert gives you an infected desert instead of a carpet of mycelium teleported in from somewhere else.
- Borders are blurred, and cracks and craters carry across them instead of stopping dead at a line.
Trees
Trees used to be stripped to identical rotten poles. Now each one gets a fate: some stand whole with a canopy of fungal shell, some snap partway up, some grow biomass around the roots, and in the core they are cleared away entirely.
More structures
The great tower over the Nexus, arches standing across the way in, bile craters, clutches of sacs, and tentacles leaning inward over the core, on top of the cysts, tendrils and spires that were already there.
Your buildings
- The infection now eats a building layer by layer. In 2.0.3 it took the top block of a column and moved on, so a house lost its roof and kept every wall underneath it forever.
- It works upward from the ground and crawls through the inside, so a tall tower no longer keeps its lower half.
- Bedrock, a CDU, and ground a CDU has frozen are still off limits. That last part is the counter play, not politeness.
Progression
- Phases now advance on a point total instead of a timer, and killing infected takes points away, so a zone can be held in place or pushed back a phase.
- Hunts pause after a real fight and return once things settle, instead of piling on while you are still recovering.
- The world spawn moves out of the way if a Nexus grows on top of it.
Commands
A whole debug tree, for testing and for building scenarios:
- `/infnexus debug boost on|off` makes the Nexus build at speed so you can look at the finished zone.
- `/infnexus debug find <biome>` points you at the nearest patch of a biome.
- `/infnexus debug spawn hunt|wave|siege|defenders|proto [player]` sends one at you, or at a named player.
- `/infnexus debug build <type>` places one structure where you stand.
- `/infnexus debug worldspawn` moves the world spawn by hand.
- `/infnexus debug messages on|off` for progress reporting.
Fixes
- Structures could be built underground at bedrock level, where nobody could ever see them.
- A Nexus in a snowy biome could die on its own, because Spore's mobs freeze to death out there and the Nexus was charged for every one of them.
- Kills in the Nether counted against a zone in the Overworld, where the same coordinates are eight times further apart.
- The infection now reaches the sea floor.
- Server crashes and a startup crash from a valid config file.
