Full Ghast Ahead

Your happy ghast, twice as fast.

A vanilla data pack for Minecraft Java 26.2 and 26.3. A happy ghast flies 2× faster while you steer it, and floats along at its usual pace again when you get off. It runs on the server only, and also comes as a mod (Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge, Forge) and a server plugin (Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Bukkit).

• Vanilla happy ghasts are slow. Steered, one does about 3.6 blocks per second, slower than you sprint. With the pack it does about 7.2, and up to 14.4 if you want.
• Only while you ride. Happy ghasts that nobody rides behave exactly as in vanilla, and hostile ghasts are untouched.
• Still feels like vanilla. The pack raises the ghast's own flying speed, so turning, climbing and slowing down feel the same, just faster.

1. Put a harness on a happy ghast.
2. Get on and fly. The player in the front seat steers and gets the speed.

Operators pick the speed with /function full_ghast_ahead:settings: 1×, 1.5×, 2× (default), 2.5×, 3× or 4×. At 4× a ghast keeps up with the fastest horses.

• Data pack: put the .zip in your world's datapacks folder and run /reload. Don't unzip it.
• Mod: put the -fabric.jar (Fabric or Quilt, needs Fabric API) or the -forge.jar (Forge or NeoForge) in mods.
• Plugin: put the -plugin.jar in plugins and restart the server.

Use only one of the three. To remove it cleanly, run /function full_ghast_ahead:uninstall first.
