Description

FT's Geology decides why the land looks the way it does. Feel the Nature makes that land alive and calm.

The rain is heard where it falls on you, not across the whole world at once. The wind moves through the leaves, the pines and the grass round you, and swells and lulls in gusts. Rivers murmur where they run; a lake stays still. And the mountains, banks and coasts that FT's Geology raises are clothed the way their rock and their climate would clothe them.

🌧️ Weather You Hear Where You Stand

  • Regional rain, heard locally. The sound follows FT's Geology's storms: walk out from under a shower and it is behind you; stand at a storm's edge and a drizzle patters.
  • Three strengths of rain, each its own field recording: a drizzle, a steady rain, a downpour, handing over smoothly as the storm builds. A rain after a dry spell is heard beginning; a long rain is heard ending.
  • What the rain falls on: leaves, conifer needles, open water, bare rock, the crown of a tree over you, a wooden, metal or glass roof, a window. Drips keep falling from the leaves after it stops.
  • Snow falls in silence.
  • Shelter is heard: underground the weather fades away; in a doorway, a little of it reaches you.

🌬️ Wind That Gusts

  • From a breeze to a gale, strongest on the heights.
  • Heard in what grows round you: leaves rustling, pines sighing, grass hissing.
  • It swells and lulls with FT's Geology's own gusts, at the same moment for every player on a server.
  • In a storm, the trees creak now and then.

💧 Water With a Voice

  • Brooks running over the ground, FT's Geology's rivers only where they actually run (a river stilled behind a dam is as quiet as a pond), and falling water.

☂️ The Umbrella

  • Sixteen colours: three wool over two iron nuggets and two sticks. Dye it another colour any time.
  • Open it and hear the rain drum on the cloth over your head.
  • With Tough As Nails, it keeps you dry.
  • A strong gust (around 14 m/s, the gusts of a Beaufort 6 wind) turns it inside out and shuts it. A breeze never does. Mend it with iron nuggets.

🦋 Small Life

  • Fireflies over the grass on warm, dry nights.
  • Pollen drifting over flowers by day.
  • Leaves falling under broadleaf trees, more in the wind and in autumn (with Serene Seasons).
  • Loose snow blown off the ground in a gale.

🏔️ The Country Clothed

  • Mountain belts: alpine meadow flowers, dwarf spruce at the tree line, mossy montane forest with fallen logs, ferns and lily of the valley, subalpine spruce, scree.
  • Boulders cut from the rock beneath them: gneiss where the ground is gneiss, basalt on basalt.
  • River banks: tall grass, ferns and reeds along FT's Geology's rivers and lakes, lily pads on still margins. Nothing along a river that has sunk underground.
  • Volcanic bombs scattered round the craters of large volcanoes, thickest towards the summit.
  • Basalt sea coasts: in Terralith's basalt cliffs, the field of spires is replaced by columns along the sea, upright in the cliff face, leaning at its foot, and stepping down into the water.
  • Music by the land: forest, meadow, peaks, snow, stony ground, taiga, the tree line.

📦 Requirements

Minecraft 1.20.1
Forge 47.2 or newer
FT's Geology 0.11.0 or newer (required)

🤝 Works With (all optional)

  • Serene Seasons: autumn brings the leaves down.
  • Tough As Nails: the umbrella keeps you dry.
  • AmbientSounds: its rain and wind stand down, so nothing plays twice.
  • Terralith: its basalt cliffs, re-done along the sea.

❓ FAQ

Does it work on servers? Yes. Install it on both the server and the clients. The sounds and particles run on each client; the umbrella, the world features and the gusts are kept in step by the server.

Is it heavy? No. The soundscape costs about 25 microseconds a tick, the small life under 10.

Can I turn things down? Yes, in the client config: the rain, what it falls on, the wind and the drips each have their own volume, the whole soundscape can be switched off, and the small life has its own density (or off).

Does it change worlds I already have? The sounds, the umbrella and the small life work everywhere at once. The plants, boulders and coasts appear in newly generated chunks.
