Forsaken Campfire Trail
Quickstart
- Install the mod with Fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Start a new world or explore an existing one — campsites generate automatically, no crafting required.
- Head toward a village or seek out mountain terrain near cave openings in the Overworld to find your first camp.
- Look for a cluster of A-frame tents around a lit campfire. Approach the survival chest near the fire for immediate supplies.
- Spot a marked surface log nearby — dig beneath it to uncover a buried double chest packed with high-tier loot.
- Check your new chest for a golden map pointing to the next campsite and follow it to keep exploring.
Overview
Forsaken Campfire Trail populates the Overworld, Nether, End, and modded dimensions with handcrafted A-frame campsite encampments. Each site feels lived-in — or long abandoned — with tents, a crackling campfire, seating logs, and a cleared ground area. Every Overworld camp is guarded, stocked, and connected to the next by a treasure map, creating a natural trail of exploration across your world.
What It Adds
- A-frame campsite structures — clusters of 3–6 tents around a lit campfire, appearing in all dimensions.
- Abandoned variants — roughly half of all camps look weathered and deserted.
- Survival chests — visible chests near the fire stocked with starter gear.
- Buried double chests — hidden caches of high-tier loot beneath a marked surface log.
- Camp-to-camp treasure maps — filled maps inside the survival chest pointing 650–1,400 blocks to the next campsite.
- Workstation clusters — a 25% chance for a group of 3 or 5 job blocks arranged near the camp.
- Villager settlers — 3–4 villagers at Overworld camps for trading opportunities.
- Camp Night Guard golems — exactly two named iron golems stationed at opposite guard posts at every campsite.
How To Use
Finding Camps
Overworld campsites appear in two locations:
- Near villages — within 75 blocks of a village, making it easy to trade with both camp villagers and nearby village residents.
- Mountain cave entrances — in mountain terrain beside natural cave openings.
In the Nether, End, and other dimensions, camps scatter across the landscape without village proximity requirements.
Looting a Camp
Each Overworld camp has two loot sources:
| Loot Source |
Location |
Contents |
| Survival Chest |
Visible near the campfire |
Food, torches, basic tools, logs, a filled treasure map |
| Buried Double Chest |
Under the marked surface log, 7–12 blocks from center |
High-tier loot; 15% chance for an OP bonus reward |
OP bonus rewards (15% chance in the buried chest) include:
- Enchanted Golden Apple
- Netherite Ingot
- Totem of Undying
- Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template
- Ancient Debris
- Silk Touch enchanted book
Using the Treasure Map
The golden "Map to another campsite" found in the survival chest labels its destination coordinates directly on the item name (e.g., Map to another campsite: X 340, Z -820). Follow the map or navigate to the listed coordinates to chain from camp to camp across the world.
Workstation Clusters
One in four campsites includes a cluster of exactly 3 or 5 job blocks from the following set:
- Brewing Stand
- Lectern
- Smithing Table
- Composter
- Fletching Table
- Cartography Table
Camp villagers can claim these blocks, expanding their trade options.
Abilities And Mechanics
Camp Night Guards
Every campsite spawns two iron golems named Camp Night Guard, positioned at opposite ends of the camp. They behave like standard iron golems — attacking hostile mobs — but are specifically placed to defend the camp perimeter. Their presence makes nocturnal raids and spawner-driven threats significantly more manageable, especially in dangerous dimensions.
Abandoned Camps
Approximately half of all generated camps appear in a weathered, abandoned state. These camps still contain their loot structures but have no villagers or active guards, and their visual state reflects long disuse.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game: Use camps near villages as a safe trading hub. The survival chest gives you an immediate food and tool boost, and camp villagers offer trades right away.
- Mid game: Follow the treasure map chain. Each buried chest can contain gear that accelerates your progression significantly, especially on the lucky 15% rolls.
- Late game / Nether & End: Seek out dimensional camps for loot in otherwise barren environments. The Night Guard golems make camps useful staging posts in hostile biomes.
- Chaining camps: The map in every survival chest always points to another real campsite. Collecting and following these maps creates a natural long-distance expedition across your world.
- Tip: Check for the marked surface log before leaving any camp — it won't always be immediately obvious, but it always hides the highest-value loot.
