Fire's Clay Spawn is a mod I made to spawn clay underground like an ore. The clay can be set to spawn at the same rate and layers as Coal, Iron(default), Gold, Diamond, Redstone, Lapis, and Emerald. You can also manually override the maximum layer it generates at, the minimum layer it generates at, and the ore vein size. It also supports generation in styles similar to ores from Forestry, Brain Stone Mod, and Draconic Evolution. I plan to add support for generating in styles similar to ores from more mods as well. All of these settings can be applied to Hardened Clay generation as well. Also, the mod can be set to generate Stained Hardened Clay, adding a bit of color to your mines.
Retrogen can be achieved in Minecraft 1.8.9-1.10.2 using SimpleRetrogen by cpw and in Minecraft 1.12.2 using Easy Retrogen by KitsuneAlex. Just add "the_fireplace.clayspawn.worldgen.WorldGeneratorClay" and/or "the_fireplace.clayspawn.worldgen.WorldGenGlazedTerracotta" to the retrogen mod's config.
For those of you saying this is a duplicate of Pam's Clay Spawn:
First of all, this mod is a lot more configurable than Pam's Clay Spawn. On mine, you can manually set the highest layer, lowest layer, vein size, and vein count, or input the name of a vanilla ore and some other modded ores to get the vein size and/or highest layer and/or lowest layer and/or vein count from. And you can generate Stained Terracotta and Glazed Terracotta.

Would be more realistic if the clay was generated in the lake and river soils.
How does this work with vanilla's custom world presets? I mean, will it default to whatever values I give to iron ore, use vanilla (non customized) iron ore values, use the values I put in the config or not generate at all?
It uses non-customized ore values. You can, of course, customize the clay generation in the Config GUI using the overrides, if you wish.
Great! Thanks for working on this mod, it looks like the best out there.
Hey, forget the people who commented earlier, you have actually kept up with the minecraft versions unlike Pam. I am very happy that I found this mod since i've discovered Tinker's Construct where a good clay supply is a must. Thank you for your hard work and I can't wait to give this a try tonight.
Nice job and thanks for the backport.
Would you consider adding retrogen to the configs?
Yeah, I will see if I can.
Ok, it isn't in this mod's config, but you can enable retrogen using SimpleRetrogen by cpw.
OK, I can see why you think this is a duplicate. However, first of all, is it really such a bad thing? Look at how many backpack mods there are. Secondly, I will work towards making mine a more unique mod.
Your mod is full duplicate of Pam's mod. In Pam's mod's config you CAN change spawn rate:
# Configuration file
general {
I:clayRarity=20
}
(It is copy of my clayspawn.cfg).
I made my own version for several reasons. The main reason is that Pam's Clay Spawn is made so the clay can only spawn at the rate of Iron Ore, and no way to change it, if the description on its thread is correct. My version, on the other hand, allows the user to change the spawn rate if they wish.
Pam already has a mod called ClaySpawn that does exactly this.
Why do you create a duplicate of Pam's mod?
