FearMimic — v1.3.0 Update

Psychological Horror Expansion

This update pushes FearMimic fully into psychological horror territory, focusing on subtle manipulation, paranoia, and long-term stalking rather than jump scares.

👁️ New Horror Systems

💬 Fake Chat Messages

  • Rare, believable chat messages that appear to come from familiar players

  • Per-player only (never global chat)

  • Strictly rate-limited and fully configurable

  • Designed to create doubt, not spam

🚪 Limited Environmental Interaction

  • Mimics can subtly interact with the world:

    • Open/close wooden doors

    • Place or remove torches

  • Hard anti-grief limits:

    • Hourly caps

    • No containers, redstone, or block destruction

    • Multiplayer-safe

🧠 Per-Player Stalking Memory

  • Mimics now remember each player individually

  • Tracks encounters, reactions, and time since last sighting

  • Behavior escalates or decays over time per player

  • Memory persists across sessions

👁️ “Blink and You Miss It” Sightings

  • Extremely rare, one-frame visual appearances

  • Occur only at high stalking levels

  • No sounds, no AI interaction, no confirmation

  • Designed to feel unintentional and unsettling

⚙️ Fully Configurable

All new systems are controlled via:

config/fearmimic-common.toml

Server owners can:

  • Enable or disable each feature independently

  • Choose stalking intensity and escalation

  • Set strict limits to prevent griefing

  • Customize the horror experience without rebuilding the mod

🛠 Stability & Compatibility

  • Multiplayer-safe

  • No forced combat

  • No jump-scare spam

  • Compatible with Forge 1.20.1 (47.x)

  • CurseForge-ready release

🔮 What This Update Is About

FearMimic v1.3.0 is about unease, not proof.

You might see something.
You might hear something.
You might question whether it even happened.

That’s the point.
