Far Flung Carved Posts
An add-on for Far Flung Forests
Far Flung Forests must be installed for this mod to work. It adds 22 rare real-world woods, from rainforest purpleheart and savanna zebrawood to ancient yew, kauri and ginkgo. Far Flung Carved Posts turns those woods into hand-carved pillars, finials and post-top lights for builders.
🪵 What you get
396 new decorative blocks: 18 for each of the 22 Far Flung Forests woods.
12 carved post designs
- Plain: clean and squared
- Fluted: grooves down the length, like a classical column
- Barley Twist: a true 3D spiral, like old staircase spindles
- Rope Carved: looks like twisted rope wrapped round the post
- Banded: carved rings
- Turned: a lathe-turned spindle with bulbs and necks
- Octagonal: a smooth eight-sided shaft
- Panelled: a sunken panel on every face
- Lattice Carved: a criss-cross diamond pattern
- Knotted: knots poking out of the wood, showing their end-grain rings
- Corkscrew: a chunky twisting cross, like a Solomonic column
- Leaf Carved: a climbing vine with leaves
Posts that join themselves
Stack posts on top of each other and they join into one tall column. The bottom block gets a flared foot, the top block gets a cap, and everything in between is shaft. You can mix carvings and woods in the same column. Posts can also be placed in water.
3 finials
Pop a Ball, Acorn or Spire finial on top of a post. The acorn's cup uses that wood's own bark.
3 post-top lights
- Post Lamp: a little wooden lantern with glowing glass panels (light level 15)
- Sconce: a large wooden fire bowl with real crackling flames, smoke and sparks (light level 15)
- Soul Sconce: the same bowl with blue soul fire (light level 10)
Right-click a light with an empty hand to switch it on or off. When a sconce is put out you're left with a bowl of charcoal and ash.
⚠️ Careful: lit sconces burn anything that stands in them, just like a campfire. That includes you, and mobs too, so they make handy traps! Frost Walker boots will protect you.
🪓 Carve with your axe
Every carving starts the same way. Craft some Plain Posts, then right-click a post with an axe to carve it into the next design.
- Right-click with an axe: next carving
- Sneak + right-click with an axe: previous carving
- Finials work the same way: Ball → Acorn → Spire
Re-carving keeps the post's place in its column, so you can change the design of a pillar after it's built.

Every recipe uses the wood of your choice. All blocks burn as fuel, are quickest to mine with an axe, and have their own Far Flung Carved Posts creative tab.

Every post's grain and colour comes from its wood. Zebrawood stripes wrap round a Barley Twist, and purpleheart makes bold purple columns.

Works great with Far Flung Woodworking, the other Far Flung Forests add-on, with its chests, crates, tables, chairs, beams and brackets. The two mods don't overlap, so you can install both.
