Fantasy Fuedalism
Mercenaries expands Minecraft’s villages with recruitable soldiers, deeper villager interactions, and a more dynamic defensive system. Mercenaries can naturally spawn in groups within villages, be recruited from pillager patrols, or raised directly from the village population. Using a Call to Arms, players can turn nitwit villagers into mercenaries, while a Mercenary Contract can be used on a pillager patrol leader to convert the entire patrol to your side. Once recruited, mercenaries can follow several basic commands, including Patrol, Hold, Follow and Mount up. They can ride horses, fight from horseback, and have fully interactable inventories that allow players to manage their equipment and supplies. Mercenaries use intelligent combat AI capable of responding to threats with melee attacks, ranged weapons, and tactical behavior rather than simply rushing enemies.
Village Integration
Mercenaries are fully integrated into village life and interact with several villager professions as part of their routines:
- Clerics supply mercenaries with potions.
- Fletchers provide arrows.
- Farmers provide food.
- Librarians can grant mercenaries a temporary Speed buff.
- Weaponsmiths can trade the "Call to Arms Scroll".
- Librarians can trade the "Mercenary Contract Scroll".
- Armorsmiths can repair damaged iron golems, giving villages another way to maintain their defenses.
Both Mercenary Contracts and Call to Arms scrolls also have a small chance of appearing as loot inside strongholds and abandoned mineshafts, giving players another way to discover the mercenary system through exploration.
Whether you want a few guards protecting a village, mounted soldiers patrolling the countryside, or an entire mercenary force under your command, Fantasy Feudalism: Mercenaries aims to make villages feel more alive, functional, and capable of defending themselves.
