Description
Fanciest Block Particles
MC 1.12.2 // Cleanroom // Java 25
tl;dr
Fanciest Block Particles is a heavily "cleaned-up" (more like edited to fit my taste) and reworked fork of Fancier Block Particles by Desoroxxx, which itself is a fork of Fancy Block Particles by MorphoxL.
This version is made specifically for Cleanroom and Java 25, with a bunch of old features removed, the configuration reworked, Proportional Destruction Particles properly integrated, and several particle rendering bugs fixed.
what changed
- ported natively to Cleanroom
- now runs on Java 25
- removed placing effects
- removed smoke effects
- removed weather effects
- removed the freeze effect
- removed the old FPB keybinds e.g. used for the menu and freeze functionality
- removed debug code and experiments
- removed the fancy menu
- completely redid the configuration
- removed unnecessary Red Core dependency and only kept the files that are actually used integrated
- properly integrated Proportional Destruction Particles
- added Galacticraft compatibility through custom gravity based on dimension ID
- added Celeritas/Nothirium Dynamic Lights support
- particles from slippery blocks (ice), or particles landing on slippery blocks (also ice, yes, even modded ice), now slide as they would with frictionless mode enabled (ice ice baby)
particle fixes
- fixed the grass portion tint of grass block particles when breaking the block from the side
- fixed Z-fighting when particles are lying directly on the ground
celeritas dynamic lights
Fanciest Block Particles includes support for Celeritas dynamic lights through the changes from the Celeritas dynamic lighting support PR.
To obtain, use the Celeritas auto-build releases.
⚠️ Important: Use Celeritas on Cleanroom. Do not use Celeritas on Java 8. The addons required for this integration will not work correctly on Java 8 and Celeritas generally will cause crashes.
If you're using this version of Fanciest Block Particles = Cleanroom + Java 25 + Celeritas.
don't use optifine
Do not use OptiFine with Celeritas. They are incompatible on 1.12.2, and using them together can cause crashes and other rendering issues.
If you're using a modern Cleanroom setup, use Celeritas instead of OptiFine. See the Minecraft 1.12.2 Optimization Guide for more information about OptiFine and other known compatibility issues.
why
I made this because I wanted a version of Fancier Block Particles that actually fits my "taste" and setup.
Desoroxxx hasn't been very active on GitHub lately, and I also wanted to make some fairly destructive changes to the mod's configuration and feature set which would've likely never been merged. Rather than trying to keep everything backwards-compatible with the original, I decided to just make the version I actually wanted.
So if you liked every feature from the original Fancier Block Particles, this probably isn't going to be for you. A lot of the removed stuff was intentional.
credits
Direct upstream: Fancier Block Particles by Desoroxxx
Original upstream: Fancy Block Particles by MorphoxL
more credits
- RedCore, parts of the code used by this project; this project also uses a small amount of code from it (less than 100 lines)
- Proportional Destruction Particles, integrated into this fork because the original combination with Fancier Block Particles did not work properly
github
I'll add the GitHub repository eventually. I promise. 😭
I want to clean up the project properly before putting it there, and I have a bunch of other projects to deal with too, plus I don't exactly have a lot of free time (actually, I shouldn't be coding rn). GitHub will happen sooner or later™.
disclaimer
This is a fork with substantial changes to both features and configuration. It is not intended to preserve every behavior or configuration option from Fancier Block Particles.
If something breaks, feel free to report it. I can't promise I'll fix everything immediately, but I'll take a look when I have the time.
I don't intend to make money from this. I made it because I wanted these changes for my own setup, and figured other people might find them useful too.
