## Description
# Marauder
**Something is hunting you.**
Every so often, out of sight and just out of earshot, a Marauder appears. It has picked *you*. It doesn't burn in the sun, it climbs walls like a spider, and it won't stop until one of you is dead — or until it gives up and vanishes in a puff of smoke.
Marauder started as one mob for a family survival server and grew into a full adventure mod: new enemies, new weapons, nine one-of-a-kind legendary artifacts, wizard's tools, a buildable defence tower, and a hand-drawn world with a ruined castle and a captive King to rescue.
---
## The Marauder
- Every player is hunted on their own timer (every 15–45 minutes by default).
- A Marauder appears 24–48 blocks away and heads straight for its victim. It hits harder than a zombie, ignores daylight, and climbs walls (though cobwebs still slow it).
- **One in five throws stars** from range instead of closing to melee.
- **One hunt in five sends a pair.**
- If it hasn't caught you within 4 minutes, it dissolves.
- Kill one for 1–3 emeralds and sometimes an iron ingot.
Timing, stats, night-only mode and chat warnings can all be changed in `config/marauder.json`.
## The Hermit
A grumpy old man in a straw hat lives alone in a spruce cabin, and he doesn't like anyone.
- He attacks **anything** that comes into his territory (about 48 blocks around his hut): players, villagers, livestock, monsters and pets. He spares only his own cats and chickens.
- He carries a crossbow or a **double-barrel shotgun** loaded with incendiary shells.
- He never chases you past the edge of his land.
- Whatever his victims drop ends up in his hut's chests, along with the treasure he already has.
- He's tough (40 HP), heals over time, and drops his weapon when he dies.
Hermit huts appear in newly explored overworld land, a few hundred blocks apart.
## Weapons
**Rigged Crossbow:** craft a crossbow with a piston (enchantments carry over). It still shoots arrows and fireworks, and also fires:
| Ammo | Effect |
|---|---|
| Snowball | Knockback and Slowness |
| Gunpowder | A small explosion |
| String | A line of five cobwebs |
| Copper nugget | Hits like a mace; lobbed shots hit harder |
**Double-Barrel Shotgun:** loads twice as fast as a crossbow and fires a five-pellet spread from each barrel. Pellets mow down grass and punch through leaves. Six shell types:
- Standard
- Arcane (a random effect: fire, lightning, poison or double damage)
- Incendiary
- Explosive
- Golden (double damage against pigs and piglins)
- Diamond (double damage)
## Nine Legendary Artifacts
**Excalibur, Mjolnir, the Bow of Will Treaty, Paul Bunyan's Axe, Brokkr's Pickaxe, Merlin's Staff, the Boots of Mercury, Neptune's Trident and the Holy Avenger.**
- Each one exists **only once per world**, and none can be crafted.
- Artifacts are hidden in structure chests: strongholds, mansions, bastions, ancient cities, temples, shipwrecks and more. They only turn up for a player who is **level 25 or higher**.
- **Only the worthy can keep one.** Drop below level 25 and your artifact vanishes back into the world, waiting for someone else.
- Every artifact has every enchantment it can take at maximum, plus its own powers:
- Mjolnir lets you fly and can be thrown to call down lightning.
- The Bow of Will Treaty needs no arrows and fires three homing shots.
- Merlin's Staff casts fireballs and hides you in the dark.
- The Boots of Mercury mean nothing can slow you down.
- …and more.
- There's a catch: each artifact **draws monsters** to whoever carries it.
- An artifact that is truly lost calls out. A beacon of light marks a guarded chest somewhere in the world.
## Sentry Tower
Build it from a 2×2 block of stone, a 2×2 layer of stone walls and a chest. Load the chest with 2 crossbows, redstone, lapis and an observer, and the frame turns into a **double-crossbow turret**.
- It tracks and shoots hostile mobs within 24 blocks and never needs arrows.
- It never targets players, villagers, golems, pets or animals, so it's safe in a village or a crowded base.
## Wands, Rods and Staffs
Craft a random wizard's tool from lapis and monster drops:
- **Fire**, **Ice** and **Power**
- **Snow** (a flurry that buries targets in powder snow)
- **Lightning**
- **Sand** (a whirlwind that hurls enemies into the air)
Rods and staffs hit harder and double as clubs. There's also the **Meteor Swarm**, a charged ender pearl that rains 15 meteors where it lands.
## New Creatures
- **Night Owls:** perched on treetops, coloured to match their forest. At night they dive on you in total silence.
- **Wood Golems:** witches sometimes bring one along. By day it stands among the trees like a tree; at night it hunts and chops through wooden buildings.
- **Mimics:** they look exactly like the treasure chest they sit beside. They follow you when your back is turned.
- **Drakes:** small dragons of the deserts and mountains. They dive like phantoms and sometimes spit fireballs.
## The Fallen Kingdom
A new **world type**: a hand-drawn 2048 × 2048 island kingdom surrounded by ocean.
- **Regions:** swamps, deserts, frozen wastes, monster-filled mountains, five villages and the King's Road.
- **The fallen castle at the centre:** a moated ruin overrun by the dead, with a prison, catacombs, a broken Nether gate and a sealed royal mine.
- **Landmarks:**
- The Witches' Tower
- The Mummy's pyramid and Sunken Tomb
- A pirate cove with a ship at anchor and buried treasure
- A lighthouse, a dark tower, war camps and more
- **The King is a prisoner in his own castle.** Free him and complete **nine quests** for his rewards: light the catacombs, defeat the Mummy and the Witch King, recover the Royal Key, guard the villages and finally kill the Ender Dragon.
To play it, choose **World Type → Fallen Kingdom** when you create a world. On a server, set `level-type=marauder:fallen_kingdom` before the world is first generated.

## Requirements
- **Minecraft 26.2**
- **Fabric Loader 0.19.5+**
- **[Fabric API](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/fabric-api)**
- **Java 25**
Install the mod on **both the server and every client**. It adds new entities, so players without it can't join.
## Commands and Config
Operators can force or clear hunts (`/marauder`), place a hermit hut (`/hermit spawn`), manage artifacts (`/artifact`), and check or jump through quests and locations in the Fallen Kingdom (`/kingdom`). Players can use `/kingdom quest` to see their progress.
Settings live in `config/marauder.json`. If the file is broken it's rebuilt from the defaults, so a bad edit can never stop your server from starting.
