Description
ExtendedHeight
More room to build in Minecraft 1.7.10, both up and down.
ExtendedHeight raises the build limit and lets you build below the bedrock. A new world goes from y −256 to y 511 instead of 0–255. That's three times the vertical space, and you can change the numbers in the config.
Features
- Taller, deeper worlds. The Overworld of new Default, Superflat, Large Biomes, Amplified and Default_1_1 worlds gets the extended height automatically. The range can go from y −512 up to 1024 blocks in total.
- Vanilla terrain stays the same. Terrain still generates in 0–255 as usual. Above it is open sky, and below the bedrock is empty space for your own builds.
- Works like vanilla. Lighting, mob spawning, falling blocks, pistons, pathfinding, water and lava all work at every height.
- Vanilla darkness below 0. Outside creative mode the fog closes in below y 0 like it does near the vanilla void. You can turn this off.
- Existing worlds are safe. Each world keeps the height it was created with. Old worlds stay 0–255 and are saved in the normal format.
- Other dimensions are untouched. The Nether, the End, modded dimensions and modded world types keep vanilla height unless a mod turns the extension on for them.
- Angelica support. Works with Angelica's renderer when it's installed, including shaders and render distances above 16.
- Mod API. Other mods can give their own dimensions or world types any height range. It includes helpers for world generation, per-height biomes and void effects.
Config
config/extendedheight.cfg:
| Option | Default | Vanilla |
|---|---|---|
minY: lowest buildable y |
-256 |
0 |
maxHeight: build height limit |
512 |
256 |
vanillaWorldVoidFog: darkness below y 0 |
true |
— |
The height options apply only to newly created worlds. Set minY = 0 and maxHeight = 256 to get vanilla height.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.7.10, Forge 10.13.4.1614
- UniMixins, required (tested with 0.3.1 and 0.3.2). Older Mixin loaders such as SpongeMixins and MixinBooter are not supported.
- Install the mod on both client and server. The versions must match.
Compatibility
- Angelica (optional): integration turns on automatically. Angelica renders the full height of extended worlds with no render distance limit (tested at 32 chunks, with shaders). Without Angelica, the vanilla renderer is used and render distance in extended worlds is capped at 16 chunks.
- Distant Horizons (GTNH backport, optional): integration turns on automatically, and LODs are built and drawn across the full world height. If you used DH with an older version of this mod, DH may have turned off its world generator after errors: set
generatorPlan = "CHUNKS_ONLY"inconfig/DistantHorizons.toml. - ArchaicFix: set
enablePhosphor=false. Phosphor lighting crashes when an extended world is created. - Hodgepodge: set
earlyChunkTileCoordinateCheck=false. That check crashes the game when a tile entity is placed below y 0. You don't need to turn offoptimizeMobSpawning: since 1.0.1, mobs spawn at the right heights with it on. - Tested with: Angelica 2.2.35, Distant Horizons upstream-preview8-rple-biomes, Hodgepodge 2.7.218, ArchaicFix 0.8.0, CoreTweaks 0.3.4.7, GTNHLib 0.11.54.
- OptiFine and chunk-format mods (NotEnoughIDs, EndlessIDs, ChunkAPI) have not been tested.
- An extended world cannot be opened without the mod. Make a backup before you remove it.
