🔧 expRepair
Repair your gear with XP — passively or on demand. No anvils. No grindstones.
Vanilla Mending only heals the item you're holding, and only when an XP orb happens to drop — so your armor rots mid-fight and your off-hand never gets a repair. expRepair fixes that. It spends your stored experience — levels and the progress bar, not just loose orbs — to keep your whole kit alive the moment it takes damage.
🆕 New in 1.9.5: one jar now runs on every Minecraft 26.x release — 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3.
No new items, no blocks — it's server-side, so a vanilla client can just connect, and it runs the same in single-player.
⚔️ Vanilla Mending vs. expRepair
| 🎣 Vanilla Mending | 🔧 expRepair | |
|---|---|---|
| What it repairs | Only the held item | Your whole loadout (passive) |
| When | When an XP orb lands | Every second, or on demand |
| XP source | Loose orbs only | Your stored XP |
| Armor while fighting | Rots | Maintained |
| Control | None | Passive / Manual + XP floor |
✨ Two ways to repair — pick one
- 🟢 Passive — the whole kit, hands-off. Once per second, every damaged Mending item you have equipped (main hand, off-hand, and all four armor slots) tops itself off from your XP, up to a budget. Your gear stays healthy in the background while you mine, fight, or fly.
- 🎯 Manual — just the tool in hand. Sneak + right-click in the air holding a damaged Mending item and it repairs on the spot. Nothing happens automatically, so you decide when your levels get spent.
Turning one mode on turns the other off — no doubt about what's spending your XP.
🔧 How it works
XP converts to durability at a fixed, transparent rate: 1 XP = 2 durability. Each repair spends at most maxXpPerRepair (default 8 → up to 16 durability), drawn from your total experience.
- A protective XP floor. Set a threshold and passive repair will never spend XP that would drop you below it — bank levels for that next enchant while the overflow keeps your gear alive.
- Mending is the opt-in. Only Mending-enchanted items are ever touched — nothing repairs gear you didn't intend to.
- Survival only, only while alive. Creative/spectator are skipped, and no XP is spent on the death screen.
🎛️ You're in control
- A clickable login summary — on join, a compact status line shows your mode + threshold with inline toggle buttons (and you can switch the message off entirely).
- Full admin control — operators set server-wide defaults, force a mode for any player, or block a mode outright. Config hot-reloads, no restart.
- Plays nice with PvP mods — exposes a suppression hook so combat mods (e.g. pvpOption) can pause repairs mid-duel.
