Description

Hello everyone. Welcome to Evergrowth Enchanting Overhaul.

Evergrowth Enchanting Overhaul is a complete reimagining of Minecraft's enchanting system, introducing enchantment slots, expanded progression, and greater control over how players upgrade their gear. Designed to complement Evergrowth Core, it makes enchanting more strategic, rewarding, and customizable while maintaining a vanilla-friendly experience that feels like a natural evolution of Minecraft's progression.

Mod Features (Version 2.0)

Enchanting Table

The enchanting table only accepts books (regular book or enchanted book in the left slot, lapis in the right). When you place a book, three offers are generated and each one shows you exactly what enchantment you will get before you commit. Your rolls stay locked in and persist until you pick one or remove the book.

Bookshelf count (capped at 15) scales which tiers show up in your offers:

Bookshelves Common Uncommon Rare
0 75% 23% 2%
15 50% 35% 15%

Costs are flat per tier regardless of which of the three slots you click:

Tier XP Lapis
Common 5 1
Uncommon 15 4
Rare 30 8

If you don't have enough lapis for the tier you clicked, the enchant won't apply and you'll see a message in your action bar.

Book Destruction Chance

Every enchanted book carries a hidden destruction chance based on its tier. This applies to books from the enchanting table and books found in loot chests or from fishing.

  • Common: no risk
  • Uncommon: 5–25% (randomised per book)
  • Rare: 25–55% (randomised per book)

The destruction chance is visible on the book's tooltip and shows the exact percentage plus a risk label:

  • Under 15% → Low Risk (green) — "This book is stable. Safe to apply."
  • 15–30% → Medium Risk (yellow) — "Handle with care. Enchantment may be lost."
  • Over 30% → High Risk (red) — "Highly fragile. Likely to shatter at the anvil."

When you apply the book at the anvil it either succeeds or shatters. If it shatters, the enchantment is not applied, the book is consumed, and you receive a chat message telling you which enchantment was lost.

Loot Chests and Fishing

Enchanted books from loot chests and fishing are filtered so Rare enchantments can never appear. If the loot table would have produced a Rare, it is replaced with a Common (80% chance) or Uncommon (20% chance). Books found this way carry destruction chances the same as enchanting table books.

Anvil

  • The "Too Expensive!" cap and label are completely removed. You can always combine items no matter how many prior repairs or enchantments they have.
  • The slot system gates how many enchantments can be applied to an item (see Slot Tome below).
  • If you try to apply a book to an item with no remaining slots, the book is returned, XP is refunded, and you receive a chat message.
  • Merchant's Blessing reduces all anvil XP costs by 25%/50%/75% and refunds 15%/30%/45% of the emerald cost on any villager trade completed while wearing it.

Item Tooltip — Enchantment Slot Display

All weapons, tools, armor pieces, and shields show a custom section at the bottom of their tooltip:

  • Enchantment Slots [X / Y] — turns red when all slots are filled
  • Each applied enchantment is listed with its name in its tier colour (grey = Common, aqua = Uncommon, gold = Rare)
  • Remaining empty slots are shown as italic "Empty" lines
  • The vanilla default enchantment list is suppressed so enchantments only appear once in this section

Enchanted Book Tooltip

Every enchanted book shows:

  • Tier badge — "Common Enchantment" / "Uncommon Enchantment" / "Rare Enchantment" in the tier's colour
  • Short description of what the enchantment does
  • Incompatibilities — lists what it cannot be combined with, or "No incompatibilities." in green if none
  • Applies to: line with custom item icons showing every compatible item type
  • Destruction Chance section with percentage and risk label if the book carries any risk

Custom Items
