# Enable ragdolls
Every death becomes real physics.
When a mob or a player dies, the vanilla death animation is replaced by a skeletal ragdoll. Every bone of the model becomes its own rigid body, held to the torso by joints with angle limits and damping. Limbs flop, bounce, slide and pile up on the ground. Nothing is canned: it is all simulated live.
## Features
- Skeletal ragdoll: the skeleton is detected automatically from the model of the mob, so it works with vanilla mobs and with mobs from other mods that use standard models.
- Real collision: every cube of every body part collides with the world, using the exact shape of blocks. Slabs, stairs, fences and walls behave correctly.
- Friction, bounce and gravity, with bodies floating and slowing down in water. Body parts also collide with each other.
- Mobs stay on the ground for 5 seconds, then vanish in a puff of smoke. Drops and experience appear when the body disappears.
- First person death: when you die, your camera stays in first person, rides your falling head with real gravity and tumbles until your body lands. Then your items drop and the respawn screen appears.
- Fast and light: the simulation runs on the client only, skips what you cannot see, lowers detail on distant bodies, has a time budget per tick and puts bodies to sleep as soon as they settle.
## Configuration
A config file (enableragdolls-common.toml) lets you change:
- how many seconds a body stays on the ground
- the maximum number of ragdolls at the same time
- the first person death camera
- delayed drops
- a blacklist of entities (modid:name, or modid:* for a whole mod) that keep their normal death
## Notes
- Install it on both the client and the server for the full effect.
- Mobs that use a different rendering system (for example GeckoLib mobs) keep their normal death animation.
- Ender Dragon, Wither, Warden and armor stands keep their own death.
Requires Minecraft 1.20.1 and Forge 47.3.0 or newer.
