Vanilla forces you to choose between your chestplate and your elytra. Elytra Slot adds a dedicated slot so you can wear chest armor and elytra. No trade off.
Dedicated back slot for elytra, separate from your chestplate slot
Wear any chestplate while gliding
Gliding activates exactly like vanilla, double-jump while falling
Elytra and chestplate both render correctly in third person
Cannot equip elytra in both slots at once (prevents exploits)
Chest slot elytra still works normally
