Your attacks do not disappear. They remain in the world—and strike again.

Echo Relics is a gameplay-focused mod built around one central mechanic: actions performed with ancient relics can be recorded in space and replayed several seconds later as echoes.

The current version introduces the Echo Blade, a relic weapon that records the location and direction of your attacks. After a short delay, the same area is slashed again.

The echo does not follow the original target.

Enemies can escape before it activates, while another enemy entering the recorded area can be hit instead. This turns every attack into a temporary trap and encourages you to predict movement, control positioning, and fight alongside your past self.

Echo Blade

When a valid attack is performed with the Echo Blade:

The position and direction of the attack are recorded.
A visible echo remains in that space.
After a short delay, the slash is replayed.
Any valid enemy inside the recorded area is hit.

Move away, turn around, or attack somewhere else—the echo will still activate at the original location.

Use it to:

Prepare attacks before enemies arrive
Lure enemies into recorded slashes
Strike from two directions at once
Build delayed combat combinations
Control groups of moving enemies
Turn the battlefield into a map of future attacks

Enchantments

Reverberation

Increases the number of times an attack is replayed.

Higher levels allow one attack to produce several consecutive echoes.

Accelerando

Reduces the delay between echoes.

Combine it with Reverberation to create faster sequences of repeated slashes.

More Than Delayed Damage

Echo Relics is designed around recorded spaces rather than automatic target tracking.

An echo attacks the area that was originally struck, not the enemy that was originally hit. This means both the player and enemies can interact with the time between recording and activation.

The goal is to make positioning and prediction as important as weapon strength.

Planned Expansion

Echo Blade is the foundation of a larger system currently in development.

Planned features include:

Ancient ruins built around echo-based puzzles
A spectral echo of the player that can activate special mechanisms
Projectiles fired again from their original positions
Enemies that repeat their own previous attacks
Devices activated only by echo attacks
A boss that records and copies the player’s combat history

These features are planned and may change during development. The Files page and changelogs will always describe what is available in the current release.

ModJam 2026

Echo Relics was created for the Echoes of the Past: Minecraft ModJam 2026.

Rather than treating the theme only as an ancient visual style, the mod turns the past into an active gameplay system: previous actions remain in the world and affect the present.
