Echo Pearl

Throw a pearl to plant a temporal anchor. Press R within 30 seconds to rewind back — sculk particles, shrieker echoes, and no fall damage regrets.

# Echo Pearl — Rewind Your Steps

> *Throw an anchor. Rewind time.*

**Echo Pearl** adds a single elegant item to Minecraft: a throwable pearl that lets you mark a position in the world and teleport back to it on demand. Right-click to plant an invisible temporal anchor wherever the pearl lands. For the next **30 seconds**, press **R** to instantly warp back — accompanied by sculk-infused particles, ghostly shrieks, and enderman teleport echoes.

Every warp consumes one pearl. No durability. No cooldowns. No netherite-tier grind. Just pure, tactical rewinding — the kind that turns a fatal misstep into a stylish save.

---

## ✦ Design Philosophy

Echo Pearl draws from two iconic movement mechanics in gaming: *Tracer's "Recall"* from Overwatch and *Corvo's "Blink"* from Dishonored. But instead of copying either, it strips them down to their emotional core — **undoing a mistake**.

In Minecraft, death often feels cheap: you fall into lava, you misjudge a jump, you get swarmed. Echo Pearl gives you one clean rewind per pearl, provided you had the foresight to throw it first. It rewards preparation, spatial awareness, and a touch of style.

The thematic dressing is deeply rooted in the Deep Dark / Ancient City aesthetic. The warping soundscapes are sculk shriekers. The particles are sculk souls and reverse portals. The visual anchor leaves no trace — only you know where you'll return.

---

## ✦ Features

- **Throw to Anchor** — Right-click to toss the pearl. The exact landing spot (X/Y/Z + dimension) becomes your anchor for 30 seconds. The pearl gains an enchantment glint to indicate it's active.

- **Press R to Rewind** — Tap the R key (rebindable in Controls) to instantly warp back to your anchor. Works anywhere within the same dimension.

- **Immersive Effects** — Sculk soul particles burst at your departure point. Reverse portal particles bloom at your arrival. Sculk shrieker + enderman teleport sounds layer the audio.

- **One-Shot Consumable** — Each warp destroys one Echo Pearl. Max stack size is 16. No durability bar, no repair. Craft more or play smart.

- **Dimension-Aware** — Anchors record which dimension you were in. Crossing dimensions? The anchor won't follow. You must stay in the same world.

- **Tooltip Feedback** — Active pearls show a cyan "Anchored · Xs remaining" tooltip with a "Press R to rewind" hint. Inactive pearls show a dark gray idle tooltip. The countdown is visible at a glance.

- **Inventory Scanning** — Pressing R scans your entire inventory for active pearls. If you have multiple, the first valid one is consumed. No need to hold it in hand to warp.

- **No Game-Breaking Exploits** — The pearl cannot be used mid-air like an ender pearl. You must be on the ground. It won't bypass death, void damage, or `/kill`. It's a tactical tool, not an invincibility button.

## ✦ How to Use

1. **Hold** an Echo Pearl in your hand.
2. **Right-click** to throw it. A sound and chat message confirm the anchor is set.
3. You now have **30 seconds**. Explore, fight, build, take risks.
4. When you need to bail — press **R**.
5. You warp back. One pearl consumed. Anchor gone.

The R key can be rebound in **Options → Controls → Key Binds → Echo Pearl: Activate**.

## ✦ Crafting Recipe

| Ingredient | |
|---|---|
| Amethyst Shard | |
| Ender Pearl | |

Shapeless recipe — place both ingredients anywhere in the crafting grid. Yields **1 Echo Pearl**.

## ✦ FAQ

**Q: Can I use it to escape lava / the void?**
A: Yes, if you set the anchor before falling in. Press R to warp back before you die. But once you're taking damage, timing is tight — this isn't a panic button.

**Q: Does it work across dimensions?**
A: No. Each anchor records the dimension it was placed in. If you go through a Nether portal, your Overworld anchor won't trigger.

**Q: What happens if I log out while anchored?**
A: The anchor data is stored in the item's NBT. It persists across relogs as long as the item exists. The 30-second timer is based on world ticks, so if you log out at 25s remaining, it'll still have 25s when you log back in.

**Q: Can I have multiple active pearls at once?**
A: Yes! Each pearl stores its own anchor independently. Pressing R consumes the first valid one found in your inventory (hotbar → main inventory, left to right, top to bottom).

**Q: Is this balanced for PvP?**
A: Echo Pearl is not designed with PvP balance in mind. Server admins may want to restrict or ban it in PvP environments, as the ability to instantly rewind a bad engagement is extremely powerful.

**Q: Will there be a Forge / NeoForge version?**
A: Not currently planned, but never say never. If the Fabric version gains traction, ports are possible.
