Unofficial continuation. Easy Building was created by Marum (Modrinth · GitHub). This page is an unofficial continuation / port to Minecraft 26.2. It is not made, endorsed or maintained by Marum.
Why is it unofficial? Because of its license: the original is published under a permissive license (MIT on its Modrinth page; its repository also carries CC0 text), which allows others to port and redistribute it as long as the original author is credited and the license notice is kept. And because the author has been silent for months: Marum has not released a 26.2 version and has not answered the requests for one (issues #5 and #9 and pull requests #8 and #10 on GitHub) since July 2026, so instead of leaving 26.2 players without it, this build is published as an unofficial continuation.
I left a comment for Marum on the original repository before publishing. If Marum releases an official 26.2 version, or asks for this page to be taken down, I will follow that. Please prefer the official build if it exists.
Pick a vertical or horizontal plane, then click and drag to place blocks quickly and neatly on that plane. Use it to extend walls, floors, bridges, roofs, railings or scaffolding without misplacing a single block.
How to use
- Look at the block face whose plane you want to extend (a wall to extend the wall, the floor to extend a floor or bridge, a ceiling for a roof).
- Press Left Alt (rebindable in Controls) to turn Easy Building mode on. A grid shows the plane; it turns red when the target is out of reach.
- Hold the use key (right click) and drag across the plane to place blocks. Press Left Alt again to turn it off.
Slabs and stairs: if you start while looking at a slab or stair, new blocks keep its half (top or bottom). You can only place against an existing neighbouring block, so impossible floating positions are not allowed.
Server usage
Client-side only: it works without being installed on the server. Some multiplayer servers may not allow building aids, so check the server rules first.
What is different from the original 26.1.2 build
- Built and tested for Minecraft 26.2 (Fabric Loader 0.19.5+, Fabric API 0.160+): the grid rendering was moved to the new 26.2 rendering API.
- No crash when the view is parallel to the plane (looking straight up/down or exactly level), which I believe is what the original fixed in its 1.0.1.
- No crash when leaving the world, changing dimension or respawning with the mode on (the mode is switched off when you leave a world).
- Real mod metadata instead of the Fabric template text.
- Verified with an automated client test (real key presses, blocks checked on the server, slabs, vertical and horizontal planes, world lifecycle).
