Earshot - Proximity Chat

Talk to the players around you with your mic. Earshot adds proximity voice and chat to NeoForge 1.21.1 modpacks. Voices fade with distance, walls muffle them, and each player sounds like they're coming from where they stand. It's built for the Nine Craft modpack and works in any NeoForge 1.21.1 pack. It runs on its own, so you don't need another voice mod.

Voice

• Proximity voice with distance fade, stereo panning, and walls that muffle sound.
• Open mic or push-to-talk, switched in the voice menu.
• Whisper (hold G) for a short range.
• Party channel (hold H) for your group, at any distance. Use /prox party join <name> to join, and /prox party list to see who's online.
• Radio (hold R) with nine frequencies. Craft a radio and tune it, and anyone on the same frequency can hear you from anywhere.
• Megaphone block that boosts the range of anyone standing next to it.
• Clean sound: noise suppression (RNNoise) removes fans, AC, and keyboard noise. Echo cancellation and voice focus help when you aren't on headphones.
• Smooth playback: an adaptive jitter buffer, and lost packets are filled with predicted audio so short dropouts are less noticeable.
• Opus codec at about 24 kbps, bundled in the mod.
• Per-player volume and mute, on your own machine only.

See who's talking

• A mic icon above the nametags of players who are speaking.
• A speaking marker in the tab player list.
• A small live list of who is speaking, in the top-left corner. Turn it off in the voice menu.
• A HUD badge beside the hotbar that shows Transmitting, Whispering, Party, Radio, or Mic ready.
