1.16.5
- rewritten to work with MC 1.16.5
- the mod now uses fake air and water blocks to achieve light (rapidly placing and removing them as light sources move)
- this has several limitations, only full water blocks can emit dynamic lights (not waterfalls or partial block rivers)
- it will also not work if the light source is inside some non-air block like foliage or spiderwebs
- the mod is now a "standard" mod that requires both a client and a server to have it when playing online
- currently only the player self light and dropped items modules are implemented
- there is also no on-off button
This modification makes 'shining' items (default: Torch, Glowstone, Glowdust, Lit Pumpkin, Redstone, Lava Bucket, powered Minecart) illuminate everything around them if
1) the player has them equipped (in hand/armor)
2) they are dropped on the ground
You may add any Item ID you wish as shiny item, via the settings file. Also supports armor items!
There is no limit to the number of lights you can create, note however they are fairly FPS-costly. You can disable modules to obtain better FPS!

For some reason it makes my game lag as hell, 1.16.5
Optifine Dynamic Light works fine in same time
Hello can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? 1.12.2

From my understanding from just viewing the configs, the item ids dont need to be the full ID. Like how Minecraft:golden_helmet is just golden_helmet in the configs. So I did the exact format and things the configs did for all config.cfgs but I go ingame and the items dont glow when in hand, dropped or worn.
The wiki seems to no longer exists because it goes to a site for anyone wanting to buy the website domain AND I checked the Source tab and I cant seem to find any directions or example, I will keep testing and trying until someone responds

my boy. when it comes to id's, if you just type "torch" it assumes its from it's default "mod" that being minecraft. if you type "lantern" it assumes its from minecraft, which in 1.12 it isnt. if you want the id of an item that is NOT from vanilla, you need to type the mod id infront of it. example:
vanilla items: "torch"
modded items: "futuremc:lantern", "avatarmod:scroll", etc
In reply to hahadoggogobork:
I figured it out by now
I just thought the configs was made in a way only needing names (some configs are like that)
The dev configs look misleading XD
Does this even have support for other mods?...
cause I somewhat get it that default light source in this mod is Torch and Glowstone when looking at the config, so I put in a modded name in it, and somewhy my game loads but when loading world it doesn't respond, and is stuck (basically crashed)
The mod sometimes stops working in the nether
For what reason would i need both client and server to have the mod?
for some reason, the torch I`m holding suddenly didn't give off any light. I can switch over to a different stack of torches and it will work or place down the torch and break it to make it work again. the torches that work and the ones that don't work won't stack on each other like it's two different items.
The mod makes the game close, I do not know if it needs a video card to work normally
This isn't working and I don't know why.
would be nice if you could add mobs to this like fireflies, charged creepers, glowsquids...

wow this message didn't age well
Hello, the server gives me this message:
[main/ERROR] [mixin/]: Mixin config dynamiclightsreforged.mixins.json does not specify "minVersion" property
is it normal?
Thank you in advance! \:)
I added Dynamic Lights to the Multiblock Madness modpack, but it’s not working. I’m holding a vanilla torch, and tried dropping it as well, but it doesn’t light up the area around me at all. OptiFine is not installed. Do you know what the problem could be?
Versions
Minecraft: 1.12.2
Forge: 14.23.5.2860 (latest for 1.12.2)
Dynamic Lights: 1.4.9 (latest for 1.12.2)
Same issue in my own, custom-made modpack. Also not using OptiFine because Laglight Forest.
1.19 plsssssssssss
I touched on this mod in the video I made below.
If you're interested in watching it, you can use the timestamps to navigate to the specific section you want to watch.
Despite this working most of the time, I did have a few issues where a torch would stop glowing in my hand momentarily every once in awhile. Is there a fix for this?
Work with Rubidium?
In reply to costa457:
Late but yeah works like a charm, add connected glass with it and you got yourself a better optifine
In reply to BlackTimer10:
I've been looking for a connected glass mod for an hour now, can you link me to it? If you know one of course
