Description
DX12MC Direct3D 12 Renderer for Minecraft
DX12MC (also called DXMC) is a Minecraft mod that renders the game with Direct3D 12 (DirectX 12) through bgfx, instead of OpenGL.
What it does
The geometry, textures, render state and shaders Minecraft normally sends to OpenGL go to a Direct3D 12 renderer instead. Terrain, entities, text, fog, block outlines, the end portal, menu background blur, glowing outlines and spectator effects are drawn this way. VSync, Mipmap Levels and Glint Strength in Video Settings control the Direct3D 12 backend, the F3 screen and crash reports name the Direct3D 12 adapter, and screenshots work.
Not done yet
It is not a complete OpenGL replacement. The Fabulous graphics mode is not offered, and panorama and other offscreen screenshots do not work. If something needs a path that does not exist yet, the mod stops with an error instead of falling back to OpenGL.
Note
DX12MC is an experimental hobby project, made to learn how graphics rendering works. It does not claim to be better than any other renderer or mod. It only runs on Windows, and compatibility with other mods is not guaranteed, especially mods that touch rendering.
