DRS Assistant is an assistant inside Minecraft for large modpacks such as All the Mods 10. Ask in your own language how to make an item, what a mod is for, or why a machine won't run, and it answers from the pack you are actually playing: its mods and versions, its recipes as JEI shows them, its configs and KubeJS scripts, and your inventory.
The model doesn't rely on memory for modded content. It looks facts up through read-only tools, and the chat shows each lookup as it happens. It never acts in your world.
Ask about your pack
- Press ' to open the chat. Point at an item in your inventory or in JEI and press ' to ask about that item.
- Items in answers show as icons with their names; hover for the tooltip, click to open the item's recipes in JEI.
- Up and Down bring back earlier questions, and an unsent question stays in the box when you close the chat.
- Pick the model in the chat; Settings → Choose models… lists every model your endpoint offers and sets how much each one thinks.
Notes and goals
Each world and server keeps its own notes and resource goals.
- Notes: write them in the Notes tab, or tell the assistant "remember that…". Pin one, such as your Nether portal's coordinates, to keep it on screen below the tracked goal.
- Waypoints: with JourneyMap installed, ask it to mark a place, such as "mark my base at 120 70 -340 on the map", and it adds a gold waypoint in the right dimension. It only sees and removes the waypoints it added.
- Goals: ask it to plan what to gather for something you want to build. It looks up the recipes, breaks parts down into raw materials, and saves a goal. The tracked goal shows in a corner of the screen with how many of each item you carry, and a toast announces each finished item and the finished goal. Adjust counts or drop items in the Goals tab.
Tooltip translation
Mods without a translation for your language show English tooltips. Press ; over an item to translate its English lines, or turn on automatic translation in the settings. Tooltips are translated into the game's language, or into the language you pick under Translate into, so you can keep the game in English and read tooltips in Vietnamese. Each line is translated once and saved, even across restarts, with one file per mod; numbers stay as they are, and the tooltip marks what was translated. Press Ctrl+; over an item to translate it again if a translation reads badly. Works with DRS UI's tooltips.
What you need
- Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge. JEI is optional and recommended.
- An API key for the Anthropic API, or for any endpoint that speaks the Anthropic Messages API, such as a proxy. Enter it in the in-game settings. Requests are billed by your provider; the chat shows how many tokens each conversation used.
- Client-side only; servers don't need it.
Privacy
- Nothing is sent until you ask a question or translate a tooltip. A request contains your messages and what the model looked up for them: mods, items, recipes, configs, your inventory and state, and your notes and goals. Coordinates are included only if you allow it in the settings. Tooltip translation sends the tooltip lines.
- Requests go only to the endpoint you set. There is no telemetry.
- The API key is stored in
~/.config/drs-assistant/credentials, outside the game folder, so exporting or sharing an instance never includes it. - The file tools read only
config,defaultconfigs,kubejs, and the current world'sserverconfig.
Details
- English and Vietnamese translations.
- ', ; and Ctrl+; can be rebound in the Controls menu, along with an unbound key that shows or hides the tracker.
- Settings are stored in
config/drs-assistant.json.
This is an early alpha: expect rough edges, and expect settings and saved data to change between versions.
