Description
# Dragon Golems
**An addon for [Modular Golems](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/modulargolems).**
Dragon Golems adds a single, fully built dragon-type golem to Modular Golems: one golem type,
five body parts (wings, head, body, tail, legs), a holder item, a blank core, its own creative
tab, its own equipment screen, JEI info pages and 3D item previews.
Build it like any other golem — but the materials you assemble it from decide far more than
its stats.
## Requirements
| Requirement | Version |
|---|---|
| Minecraft | 1.20.1 |
| Forge | 47.x |
| [Modular Golems](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/modulargolems) | 2.7.3 or newer (**required**) |
| [L2 Library](https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/l2library) | 2.5.3 or newer (**required**) |
Drop the jar into your `mods` folder together with the two dependencies above.
## Breath attacks scale with the body material
Its default attack is a cone-shaped breath fired from the mouth. The cone grows with the
golem's size — roughly 24 blocks at the base size and about 45 blocks at titan size.
| Body material | Breath | On-hit effect |
|---|---|---|
| Iron, gold, copper, … | Fire | Sets target on fire for 3s |
| Netherite | Soul fire | Fire for 5s + Wither |
| Sculk | Sonic wave (armor- and enchantment-piercing) | Darkness + Weakness |
## Other attacks
Attacks are chosen by availability-weighted randomness rather than a fixed rotation:
- **Dive** — climbs, then dives through its target. Its own 30 second cooldown.
- **Fireball** — spits a fireball that leaves a lingering cloud.
- **Sonic boom** — a piercing line attack that hits everything along its path. Sculk-bodied
dragons only, and it shares a 15 second cooldown with the fireball.
## Everything scales with size
Hitbox, hover height, turn rate, wander and return distances, dive altitudes, sonic beam
length, orbit radius and breath cone length all scale with the golem's size, so size upgrades
change the whole creature and not just its model.
## Integration with Modular Golems
- Dragon parts can be freely mixed with other golem types, and all Modular Golems upgrades can
be installed on it.
- Reassembly and disassembly stations, plus the equipment screen's floating 3D preview, scale
the dragon down automatically instead of overflowing the UI.
- JEI pages cover the blank core, every part and the finished holder.
- The addon ships its own creative tab.
## Crafting
Seven recipes in total:
1. `7 small golem cores + 1 diamond + 1 iron block → large core` (crafting table)
2. `large core → one part` (stonecutter, one part per core)
3. `five parts → finished golem` (golem assembly station)
Recipe costs are still being tuned: it is deliberately more expensive than a metal golem, while
the bulk of the cost stays in assembling the materials.
## Known limitations
- **Do not install this together with `golems_arsenal`.** Both register a dragon, so the
creative tab would show it twice.
- The equipment screen uses the two dog-style slots (helmet and chestplate) and has no main
hand or ranged slot.
- Carrying passengers does not work: the passenger channel Modular Golems reserves for dog
golems cannot fit a 26 block long dragon.
- Extreme sizes (for example, a +300% size upgrade) can make the dragon model invisible or
fire its breath backwards. A rendering fix mod resolves this.
