Domum Ornamentum for Fabric — Minecraft 26.2
Domum Ornamentum on Fabric. One block shape, any material: doors, trapdoors, fences, gates, slabs, stairs and walls that take on the texture of whatever you feed them, plus timber frames, shingles, bricks, paper walls, pillars, posts, floating carpets, framed lights, fancy doors and barrels — cut to order at the Architect's Cutter, now running on Minecraft 26.2 with the Fabric loader.
This is a community port of LDTTeam's decoration mod. It is a port, not a fork with new features — every block, texture and recipe is the upstream authors' work; what happened here is the move from NeoForge to Fabric.

⚠️ Unofficial port — read this first
This is an unofficial, community-made Fabric port. Domum Ornamentum itself is the work of OrionOnline, Raycoms and contributors, published under the LDTTeam (Let's Dev Together) umbrella — the team behind MineColonies, Structurize and BlockUI; this port is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by them.
- Do not send bug reports from this build to LDTTeam. Use this project's issue tracker.
- If the same bug also happens on the official NeoForge build, it belongs upstream instead.
- Original mod: CurseForge · GitHub · LDTTeam Discord.
Base: upstream's own port/26.1 branch, which had already carried the mod from Minecraft 1.21.1 to 26.1 on NeoForge with Java 25. That left one axis to cross — NeoForge → Fabric — plus the 26.1 → 26.2 delta.
🏛 What Domum Ornamentum is
Domum Ornamentum ("ornamental home") adds materially textured blocks. Instead of registering hundreds of separate blocks, it registers one shape that wears the look of the material you put into it: a fence becomes a fence of any wood, any stone, or any supported modded material.
- Vanilla shapes, any material — doors, trapdoors, fences, fence gates, slabs, stairs and walls, each skinned by what you insert.
- Decorative blocks — timber frames (static and dynamic), shingles and shingle slabs, coloured bricks and brick stairs, panels, paper walls, pillars, posts, floating carpets, framed lights, fancy doors, fancy trapdoors, extra blocks and standing/laying barrels.
- The Architect's Cutter — a fancy stonecutter, and the heart of the mod. Insert the materials, pick the shape from the middle list, take the finished skinned block out on the right.
- Tag-driven compatibility — materials are read from block tags, so any mod that puts its planks, logs or stone into the usual vanilla tags is picked up automatically, with no patch here.
Three creative tabs hold everything the mod adds: Domum Ornamentum (DO), DO - Decorative Blocks and DO - Floating Carpets.
Domum Ornamentum is a standalone content mod. It declares no mod dependencies beyond the loader and Fabric API, and it works perfectly well on its own as a pure decoration mod — you do not need MineColonies, Structurize or BlockUI to use it.
📥 Installation
- Install Fabric Loader 0.19.3+ for Minecraft 26.2.
- Put these two files in
mods/:fabric-api-0.154.2+26.2.jardomum_ornamentum-26.2-1.0.0.jar
- Launch. Java 25 is required by Minecraft 26.2 itself. The three Domum Ornamentum creative tabs should appear.
Servers: the same steps. The mod is needed on both sides — the client for the block models, the server for the block entities and recipes.
⚠️ Do you need this jar, or is it already inside MineColonies?
The Fabric port of MineColonies ships as a single jar that carries blockui, domum_ornamentum and structurize inside it (Fabric's Jar-in-Jar, in META-INF/jars/). That means:
- Playing MineColonies? You do not need this download. Install the MineColonies jar and Fabric API, and nothing else.
- Want Domum Ornamentum on its own — as a decoration mod, or under Structurize without MineColonies? This jar is what you want.
Do not install both. A jar sitting in mods/ shadows a nested one regardless of version, silently: Fabric Loader 0.19.3 sorts mod candidates by isRoot() first, so the loose file always wins, and nothing about the substitution appears in the log. The result is a crash whose stack trace points at source lines that do not exist in the loaded code.
Check your startup log or mod list: with the MineColonies jar installed, domum_ornamentum must appear indented under minecolonies. If it sits at the top level, there is a stray jar in mods/ — remove one of them.
⚠️ Known limitations vs. the official build
Some NeoForge-only hooks have no equivalent in Fabric or in vanilla 26.2. Where that happened the original code was kept in place, commented and logged rather than deleted — so each item below is a known, documented gap rather than a mystery.
- No JEI integration — no JEI build exists for 26.2 yet. The Architect's Cutter, its recipes and its crafting all work; only the JEI recipe category is gone.
- Explosion resistance does not follow the skin material — vanilla 26.2 has no position-aware
getExplosionResistance, so blocks use their own base strength instead of the inserted material's. - Block sounds do not follow the skin material, for the same reason: vanilla 26.2 has no position-aware
getSoundType. - No translucent placement preview — immediate-mode render buffers were removed in 26.2.
- Items are not tinted.
BlockColor/ItemColorare gone from vanilla, so items render with the base model; placed blocks tint correctly. - Waterlogged timber frames draw a plain water surface — the fluid overlay was a NeoForge-only rendering hook.
- Domum Ornamentum items saved in ≤1.20 worlds load without their texture — the NeoForge-only item load hook has no Fabric equivalent. The upgrade logic itself is ported and intact.
- Creative tab ordering follows registration order;
withTabsBeforeno longer exists.
Each of these maps to a TODO(port-26.2) marker in the source and to a row in the repository's PORT-GAPS.md with a concrete repair plan.
❓ FAQ
Does Domum Ornamentum work on Fabric? Officially, no — upstream ships for NeoForge only. This is a community Fabric port of it for Minecraft 26.2.
Do I need MineColonies or Structurize to use it? No. Domum Ornamentum has no mod dependencies beyond Fabric API and stands on its own as a decoration mod.
I already installed the MineColonies Fabric port. Do I need this too? No — that jar already contains a Fabric build of Domum Ornamentum inside it. Installing this one alongside it will shadow the bundled copy; see the installation warning above.
Will other mods' woods and stones show up in the Architect's Cutter? If they add their blocks to the usual vanilla block tags, yes — materials are read from tags, automatically.
Does it work on a dedicated server? Yes, and the mod is required on both sides.
Can I use my old world? A world from a NeoForge 1.21.1 build is not directly portable — Minecraft 26.2 changes the save format itself. Note also that Domum Ornamentum items saved in ≤1.20 worlds load without their texture; see the limitations above.
Where do I report bugs? This project's issue tracker on GitHub. Include your Minecraft / Fabric Loader / Fabric API versions, the full logs/latest.log or crash report, your other mods, and the steps to reproduce. If the same bug happens on the official NeoForge build, report it upstream instead.
