Desktop Notifications

Desktop Notifications forwards supported vanilla Minecraft client toasts to your operating system while leaving every original in-game toast unchanged. It handles advancements, newly unlocked recipes, tutorial hints, and Minecraft system toasts.

The two mods are completely independent and may be installed separately or together.

Why use it?

Minecraft toasts are easy to miss when the game is minimized, covered by another application, or running on a second monitor. This mod lets you keep working, browsing, or chatting outside Minecraft without losing useful vanilla notifications.

Configuration

The client config is created at config/desktopnotifications-client.toml. The master switch and advancement, recipe, system, and tutorial categories are enabled by default. Modded toasts are intentionally outside this mod's scope.

Operating-system setup

Windows 10/11:
Keep the built-in Windows PowerShell 5.1 installed and available. In Settings > System > Notifications, enable notifications globally and for Windows PowerShell. Turn off Do Not Disturb or allow Windows PowerShell through its priority settings. No extra PowerShell module is required.

Linux:
Minecraft must run in a graphical desktop session with Java AWT system-tray support. Enable desktop notifications and a system tray or AppIndicator-compatible tray, and disable Do Not Disturb. Unsupported setups are reported in logs/latest.log.

macOS:
Open System Settings > Notifications, allow the Java or Minecraft process if listed, select a visible alert style, and ensure Focus is not suppressing it. Java system-tray popup support is platform-dependent, so some macOS setups may not display messages.
