Data Center 1.6.5
Curse Maven Snippet
What's new
The server spawn. A client on 1.6.4 can still join a 1.6.5 server and the other way round - updating is recommended, not required.
Added
- Leaderboards over a server's spawn. Four boards float above the spawn island: Teams and Solo players side by side, each ranked by Compute and by mining income, the top five right now. Live, not historic - who has the most at this moment, smoothed over five minutes so a rack booting or a card overheating does not throw the board around. A party counts as one, exactly as it shares one wallet
- Mining is ranked in dollars per Minecraft day, not in hashes. A Bitcoin ASIC counts trillions of hashes a second and a Chia farm counts none, so raw hashrate would always crown SHA-256; what counts is what was actually mined and paid out, valued at today's in-world price, with the coin that brought in most shown beside it. Coins bought at the Trading Terminal are not mined and do not count
- They are vanilla text displays, so nobody has to install anything to see them. Only on a dedicated server's spawn, like the signs;
skyblock.leaderboardsswitches them off - A real server spawn. A dedicated server no longer greets players with the same 9x9 plot everyone gets, but with a data-centre campus floating in the sky: a round platform on a rock base, the spawn point on a lit plaza with the notice board in front of it and the leaderboards either side, a glass-fronted data hall full of racks, a radio mast, cherry trees. A server that already has the plot gets it swapped for the campus once, on the next start - but only if nothing except the plot stands there, so a spawn an admin has built on is left alone. Singleplayer keeps the plot
- A tutorial corner on the campus: the early game in four stations, each with its machine and a sign - sell logs at a Log Buyer, mine Bitcoin with the starter rig and hold it, rent out a Hosting Rack, deliver Compute with a Rack and a switch
- Demo mode for Racks, Mining Rigs and Hosting Racks: every filled bay blinks, nothing runs - no power, no compute, no coins, no rent, no heat, no incidents. Only the campus uses it; a machine you buy never is in demo mode
Fixed
- The Shop could list parts a server would not sell. The calendar pace (
calendar.fictionalDaysPerMcDay) is read from each side's own config, and when a server's differed from the players', their dates drifted apart: the Shop showed boards the server had already discontinued, and buying one did nothing. A client now takes the pace from the server it is connected to - A refused purchase now says why - not on sale yet, no longer sold new (look in the Used tab), or not enough money - on the Shop's receipt line, instead of doing nothing
- Leaderboard displays no longer log a "Display entity: Not a string" error when they are first put up
