Cuisine Core
The shared kitchen behind the Cuisine mods
Cuisine Core is the common library that powers the Cuisine mod family. It holds the shared building blocks — item helpers, food value builders, creative tab helpers, and loot table helpers — so that every mod in the family is built from one consistent, tested foundation instead of a copy-pasted pile of code.
It adds no content of its own. No items, no blocks, no recipes, no textures, no gameplay changes. If you did not come here by following a dependency, you do not need this mod.
What This Mod Adds
Nothing visible. That's the point.
Cuisine Core exists entirely behind the scenes:
- Consistent item definitions — a single definition of what makes a food item, an ingredient, a bowl of stew, or a drink, including stack sizes
- Consistent food balance — one place where hunger, saturation, and status effects (including Farmer's Delight's Nourishment) are defined
- Consistent creative tabs — one shared helper for building tab contents
- Consistent loot drops — one shared helper for building mob drop pools
Every item, recipe, and texture you see in game still comes from the mod that owns it.
Why It Exists
| Before | Now |
|---|---|
| Every Cuisine mod defined its own item helpers | One shared, tested implementation |
| Food values and stack sizes could drift between mods | One definition, used everywhere |
| Bug fixes had to be applied mod by mod | One update fixes the whole family |
| Creative tab and loot code duplicated per mod | Shared helpers, reused |
Requirements
This mod requires the following to run:
- Minecraft 1.20.1
- Forge 47.3.0 or newer
It has no other dependencies, and it is not required on its own.
Installation
Do not install this manually unless another mod asks for it.
Both of the mods below declare Cuisine Core as a required dependency, so CurseForge and the Forge/Fabric mod finders will offer to install it for you. It is safe to leave installed after you remove them — it simply does nothing on its own.
Mods that require Cuisine Core
- Alex's Cuisine — Where Alex's Mobs meets Farmer's Delight
- End's Cuisine — 10 End-themed dishes and ingredients
Either mod works completely on its own. They do not depend on each other.
For Mod Developers
Cuisine Core exposes a small, stable API for building mods in this style. Register your DeferredRegister through the core so the mod event bus is resolved for the calling mod automatically:
public AlexsCuisine() {
CuisineCore.register(ModItems.ITEMS);
}
Available helpers:
| Helper | Purpose |
|---|---|
CuisineCore.register(DeferredRegister...) |
Attaches deferred registers to the calling mod's event bus |
CuisineItems.food() / ingredient() / bowl() / drink() |
Standard item properties, with correct stack sizes (bowls stack to 16, drinks to 1) |
CuisineFoods.meat() / dish() / nourishingMeal() |
Food values, with optional status effects |
CuisineCreativeTabs.accept(event, items) |
Fills a creative tab from any collection of item suppliers |
CuisineLootTables.drop(min, max) |
Mob drop pools with looting support |
