What's new

Cruise Cruise no Mi 0.4.2 (beta)

The villages have a life of their own. Their people now ask things for themselves, their boards post wanted notices, and every 30 days a village holds its feast. The one who holds a village can hire guards for it, a town sells plots to build on, and the head of a village tells you where you stand with it. And the game pauses less when new land is made.

Requires Minecraft 1.20.1, Forge 47+, Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.6 (0.11.5 is still accepted) and AkumaLib 4.3.0 or newer - the latest one is best. Client and server.

⚠️ Update the server and every player together. The network protocol changed: a 0.4.2 client cannot join a 0.4.1 server, nor the other way round.

⚠️ Your worlds. A world played with 0.4.1 opens as it is. Villages already made get their notices, their errands and their feasts. Only the plots for sale are missing in towns made before this update.

⚠️ A beta: everything here is playable, but numbers may still move with your feedback.

New

  • Your standing with a village. The window of the one at a village's head has a new part: the good turns you did the village and how many are left before it would take your flag, what its stalls take off for you and why, and its loyalty to your flag. And when a village is closed to you, its head says for how long.
  • Wanted notices. A village's board now posts the captain of the pirates or Marines who hold a village nearby, by his name, with where to find him. Beat him and every village that posted him pays you 5 000 Belly and counts it as a good turn. A notice stays a week, and you are paid nothing for a man of your own side.
  • The people ask things for themselves. Now and then one inhabitant of a village, two in a town, has an exclamation mark over his head. Speak to him and he says what he wants, goods of the trade he lives by. Bring it within 3 days and he pays a little more than the notice board, with XP in the trade, and the village counts it as a good turn.
  • Parcels. Sometimes the one with the exclamation mark wants a parcel carried to somebody in another village. The parcel says who it is for and where. Hand it to them and they pay you, more for a longer way. The one who waits for it has the mark too.
  • Remarkable catches. A fisherman with the exclamation mark may want one fish of a given size, bigger than most of its kind. An old man may want one rare creature. Both pay well for it.
  • Guards for a village under your flag. The one who holds a village can hire up to 4 guards at its head. Each is paid from the coffer every day, as much as the rent of 5 villagers. They stand at the hall's door and round the square, fight monsters and raiders, and leave if the coffer can not pay them or the flag changes.
  • A plot of your own in a town. Every new town has 3 plots for sale, 9 by 9, marked by 4 posts and a sign. Buy one from the head of the town for 50 000 Belly and it is yours for good. You and your crew build there, nobody else can touch it, and the town does not clear it away. Towns made before this update have none.
  • Feast days. Every 30 days a village or a town near you holds its feast. The notice boards and the barkeepers tell it 3 days ahead. That day its people are all on the square, its stalls sell cheaper and buy dearer, and while you are there you learn every trade a little faster. The five merchants are all at their stalls with twice their goods, 3 times in a town, and a concert plays on the square. There is a contest too. A fishing tournament if the place has a port, a cooking contest if it does not.

Changed

  • Fewer pauses when new land is made near a village. The game now gets the village ready in the background, and finds where it goes a third faster.
  • No more pause when something appears at sea. A merchant ship, a wreck, a ship in distress, a Sea King, the floating restaurant or the ghost ship could stop the game for up to a second while their place was looked for.
  • Built against Mine Mine no Mi 0.11.6.
  • Two new settings in config/inocruise-common.toml, under performance, turn the background work off if it ever gives trouble: villageSitesAhead and seaSearchesAhead.
